Drawn into far to erase herself out.

Warning: Spoilers
A decent but somewhat convoluted and slow moving spy drama, made by the future king of soapy Technicolor melodramas, director Douglas Sirk, without the benefit of camp potboiler producer Ross Hunter. The story focuses on the German born Marta Toren who, when first seen, has been brought up on charges of treason to the detriment of U. S. security and sit backs to tell her story.

It's obvious that she'd been manipulated into getting involved in espionage, not knowing what she was getting into, and the key to her being exonerated is submarine doctor MacDonald Carey. There's a lot of supporting characters whose side it's difficult to determine that they're on, so eventually I just found it best to just let it all unfold and the chips land where they may. It isn't until late in the film that all begins to make sense. Lots of action including a submarine battle to keep your attention.
