This is basically a Fly rip off. Same general concept of moving matter. The only difference is that the matter disappears and is store in some sort of crystal looking circular device and later can be projected back. Except if you are living matter the results aren't so good.
That said, taken on its own merits, it's not a horrible movie. Th color still pops after all these years (thanks Technicolor). The acting is pretty good. The directing is pretty good too. And there are enough dissimilarities to The Fly to make it appear as a stand alone movie.
Watch it and make up your own mind. I think it deserves more than the current 3.6 rating.
