Shrek 2 is a blueprint for how to create a sequel. Piggybacking off everything that made the original so memorable, Shrek 2 explores the larger fairy-tale world and allows its characters to grow naturally. The returning characters remain iconic, while noticeably learning and advancing through the story. Building out the cast, its new characters are fresh and exciting additions to the world, and their progressive story seamlessly flows and fits the series' overarching themes. Complete with one of the greatest musical numbers in all of cinema, Shrek 2 is easily one of the best films in the saga.
