A melodrama in which a love story and a plot to steal an orphan's fortune and force her to marry a man against her will, are important elements. The romance of the sea, the added romance of the greed for money and the unprotected orphan are important factors. When the lover returns, stops the wedding and puts a stop to all the persecution there is a general sigh of relief. The interest in these melodramatic pictures naturally centers about the lovers, all other scenes and actors being but accessories. But they are triumphant, hence the picture carries with it much of interest and not a little satisfaction. The dramatic work is good, and so is the photography. Altogether it is up to the average output of this house. - The Moving Picture World, March 5, 1910
