Indian Giver

Hindu heir Sessue Hayakawa (as Rhandah) leaves pretty princess Tsuru Aoki (as Nada) and his home in India to attend college in England. Ready to be distracted from his books, Mr. Hayakawa meets fast and flirty Vola Vale (as Amy Dawe). Her boyfriend and English society remind a smitten Hayakawa "Each to His Kind" and he loses girlfriend to white Eugene Palette (as Dick Larimer). Returning to India, Hayakawa carries out a deadly game of revenge. The synopsis of this unavailable film reveals a typical story. "Photoplay" (May 1917) writer Julian Johnson thought the Hayakawa family (referring to Sessue and Tsuru being married in real life), "are again employed congenially. The plot is slim, but the play is enjoyable."
