First, there was Parasite, shaking up the global film sector and snatching Oscar glory. Then, there was Squid Game.
It’s been quite the three years for content from Korea, a nation that has long had an outstanding reputation for producing top quality entertainment that had nonetheless struggled to travel beyond Asia, with some exceptions. That changed in earnest last September when Hwang Dong-hyuk’s Squid Game launched, breaking records that none could have thought breakable and stealing the zeitgeist in a way that no show has done in recent memory. If you didn’t know someone dressing up as a Squid Game character for Halloween, you probably weren’t invited to a Halloween party.
Hwang is in a reflective mood after a whirlwind half year during which time his show has shaken up the global TV landscape, sending him from relative unknown outside his home nation to being told...

Usually “American Song Contest” reveals the results of America’s votes from the previous week in the first few minutes of the following episode. However, because the hit reality TV show is airing its Season 1 finale on Monday, May 9, the normal process wouldn’t give the yet-to-be-announced finalists enough time to prepare for their last performances. That’s why, for the first time ever, NBC is changing up its results format. The second group of Semi-Finalists, who duked it out on the big stage on Monday night, will find out their fates on “E! Pop Daily” on Wednesday morning at 8:45 a.m. Pt. Updated: Here is the complete list:
“American Song Contest” finalists announcement:
Connecticut’s Michael Bolton (“Beautiful World”) — public vote
North Dakota’s Chloe Fredericks (“Can’t Make You Love Me”) — public vote
Texas’ Grant Knoche (“Mr. Independent”) — public vote

Michael Bolton returned to the “American Song Contest” stage during the Semi-Finals 2 episode and knocked the roof off the place with his uplifting anthem “Beautiful World.” Due to the way the reality TV show is structured, this two-time Grammy winner for “How Am I Supposed To Live Without You” and “When A Man Loves A Woman” hasn’t been seen since the first episode way back on March 21. In the video above, watch Bolton sing a reprieve of “Beautiful World” in the “American Song Contest” semi-finals, which aired May 2 on NBC.

During the five Qualifiers rounds of “American Song Contest,” all 56 participants competed for their chance of making it into the Semi-Finals. Four acts from each group advanced: one based on the rankings of the national jury vote and three based on the combined results of the viewers’ votes plus the jury rankings. Two redemption artists were later added to the mix, bringing the total of semi-finalists to 22. With so many performances to keep track of, we’ve provided this handy-dandy cheat sheet of all of the “American Song Contest” semi-finalists. Re-watch performances of their original songs below.

The video for Taylor Swift's new single, "Look What You Made Me Do," premiered during the MTV VMAs on Sunday night. RelatedTaylor Swift Spoke to My Soul, Until I Grew Up - and She Didn't Taylor's group of high-profile girlfriends - her "squad," if you will - has gotten a lot of attention and criticism over the years; many have brought up the fact that they all look similar (something the singer alluded to in the "Lwymmd" video) and question whether Taylor's seemingly revolving door of friendships is even real. Once upon a time, back in the network’s golden years, MTV would assemble all the stars in the top-40 galaxy for an annual celebration of the very best in music videos. They called it the Video Music Awards — the VMAs, for short. They still do, believe it or not, but the VMAs have come to serve a very different purpose in an age when MTV and C-span air roughly the same number of music videos.
These days, it would be fair to say that the VMAs exist less to celebrate music videos than they do to celebrate MTV itself, to reaffirm the network’s place in the zeitgeist. As a pop spectacle, the VMAs are right up there with the Super Bowl halftime concert. As an awards show, they’re a complete farce (to this day, nobody actually knows how the nominees are selected, and few people even bother...

A couple years back, a promising project surfaced: Cate Blachett was tapped to play Lucille Ball in a biopic penned by Aaron Sorkin. Everything about that screams “Green light!,” but as things go in Hollywood, the project stalled and we sort of forgot about it. However, it’s now back in the spotlight.
Amazon Studios has swooped in and acquired the rights to the film, which is called “Lucy And Desi.” The picture will chronicle Lucille Ball’s rocky marriage to onscreen partner Desi Arnaz, a relationship made more complicated by the added strain of running the production company Desilu together as well.

You may remember Lorde comparing her friendship with Taylor Swift to an autoimmune disease while promoting her album Melodrama a couple of weeks ago. Well, the "Green Light" singer initially seemed to hint that she isn't as close with Taylor as people think she is. When asked how it felt to suddenly be hanging out with her celebrity idols in an interview with Australia's Sunrise, she said, "I don't hang out with these people at all." Host David Koch then brought up the fact that she's part of Taylor's squad, to which she replied, "You make friends in different places, but I think for the most part, I'm not calling up my idols for advice necessarily." Lorde later clarified her comments in a Twitter statement, saying they were misconstrued. "Wow - something of a frustrating thing to have to address online but here we go. Taylor is a dear friend.

Lorde is currently facing some backlash for a candid comment she made about being a member of Taylor Swift's infamous friend group. While promoting her album Melodrama, the "Green Light" singer compared their high-class friendship to an autoimmune disease. Yes, really. "It's like having a friend with very specific allergies," she explained. "There are certain places you can't go together. Certain things you can't do. There are these different sets of considerations within the friendship. It's like having a friend with an autoimmune disease." It didn't take long for Lorde to respond to the criticism when a a fan pointed out how Taylor's fellow friend Selena Gomez - who suffers from lupus - might feel about the disease comment. "didn't mention taylor, but regardless, i f*cked up & that was really insensitive," she tweeted. "i'm sorry."...

Lorde gets real about fame and bullies.
The 20-year-old singer became a breakout star in 2013 when she released her debut hit single, "Royals." The song catapulted the then-16-year-old to stardom and earned her high praise from the music industry.

But the fame and attention happened so quickly that Lorde, whose real name is Ella Yelich-o'Connor, felt "overwhelmed" and realized that she's not the best at being a celebrity.
"When it was happening, I was quite overwhelmed by it," the singer told NME in an interview on Thursday. "But that was a long time ago. If anything, I’ve slowly been getting less famous since 'Royals' was really big. Which is totally cool for me, I suck at being famous. And that’s fine."

Here at Et, we're obsessed with a lot of things -- and for the week of June 12 to June 16, this is what we're most excited about:
Why We're Obsessed With 'Rough Night'
The film is already being compared to The Hangover -- minus Alan's debauchery -- centering around a bachelorette party weekend that goes awry when a male stripper ends up dead in the beach house that Jess (Scarlett Johansson) and her friends -- played by Kate McKinnon, Zoe Kravitz, Jillian Bell and Ilana Glazer -- are staying at in Miami. While the movie doesn't open with all the women hungover, trying to retrace their steps, it does, however, highlight what happens when a wild bachelorette weekend takes some hilariously unexpected turns, ultimately bringing this group of gals closer together when it matters most. Et caught up with Johansson earlier this year, where the actress spoke candidly about the comedy. "It's wrong in...
