homage
Kirpianuscus8 October 2017
to a great actress. her life. in the veils of Romanticism. the young Silvia Popovici. in one of the most seductive roles of her career. after decades, it is difficult to have the right word about this film. because not only the artistic virtues/sins are significant. not only the art of actors. but the political context, the science of a real good director to give to story more than status of gallery of sketches, the status of dream about an idealistic XIX century under the Communist regime.

so, a homage. to one of the most impressive Romanian opera voices. and a film useful for reflect. about past. and about sacrifices.

It was a real pleasure to see this movie. Hariclea Darclee born Haricli. Hartulan after husband, named Darclee because french can't pronounce Hartulan was the single reason for romanian to be proud , from the non communist period. There are so few opera singers well known in entire world (Enrico Carusso, Monserrat Caballe, Maria Callas,Irina Arkhipova, Galina Vishnevskaya , Elena Obraztsova, Dmitry Hvorostovsky, Anna Netrebko, Ion Dacian , David Ohanesian, Angela Gheorghiu, Mariana Nicolesco, Cleopatra Melidoneanu )and Darclee was the best. One it's american , 2 spanish, 5 russians and 6 romanians. Now in Romania they rest only 3 Opera Theaters. In communism there were 22. Now at the power is the noise polution resambling with a car allarm..The memorial house of Hariclea Darclee in Braila is nowdays a ruin like all the country.

a great artist

a great artist. it is the perfect word for the lead character - Haricleea Darclee, for the performance of Silvia Popovici - in one of her memorable roles - and for Arta Florescu - the voice of Darclee. mixture of homage and classic music film, using usual ingredients of a biographic movie, after decades it remains seductive and touching, naive and beautiful for the impressive cast, for the admirable work. sure, it is not perfect. but its old flavor, the musical scenes, the romanticism and the meeting with great personalities of opera are charming and the taste of a childhood fairy tale is fresh. story of an unique Romanian soprano, it could be one of source of joy.
