new age for a vintage

Just saw the film on television. two things have defined the movie watching experience - 1] super cool production design, ALL marks to the "art director" as they are known. It was absolutely "super"!.Mr. Balraj sahani's office, the conference room, the pub at which Helen does her gig, the urban Charla Tagore's wardrobe, farmhouse. The couches/ the red phones the color palette ,, is was impressed and how. Indeed a job well done!. 2] The camera movements, -Though the cinematography was average, like any other film from that age,it had quite a few tracks, tilts, crane downs etc which were impressive. Usually when one watches a film from the 60s,one expects either safe blocks or tacky zoom ins zoom outs etc. This film was relatively fluid with its camera movements.

Ralhan did well to make a regular film, him featuring in the film was just a lame excuse to get hugging &touching Helen. I'm sure she must have been a rage at the time for her European looks.

Mr. Sahani was a bit out of his hat here, i like him playing the dignified man, here he seems out place pimpin his daughter.

Saifs mom did well. I believe now, auntiji was very pretty during her prime. Soha is'nt half of her mother.

kumar gauravs father as usual was sloppy. i guess i'm too hard on him but i feel he sucked -always.he was ugly. Gaurav looks better than his father.I'd stop at rajender bashing cause the senior mans no more/ so i pause, with all due respect......

the o.p ralhan comedy track was stupid but i guess one should take it with a pinch of coke! it makes sense - you have better understanding of content that way- you laugh much more as well !!!

another thing to look out for is the outdoor shots of Bombay during the late 60s. what a beauty it was ,and what a hellhole it is now.

watch it if the streets are flooded, phone lines r down, in prison, in coma, when in interior ladakh with only one TV channel etc etc. cheers.

Excellent Indian movie

I saw this movie many years ago with English subtitles. It's a humorous, colorful movie with a great soundtrack. Scenes are shot in many different locations, so it also functions as a travelogue of the diversity of India. It is formulaic, as all Indian movies at that time were, with chase scenes inexplicably stopping for a several-minute-long dancing and singing sequence. It has a wonderful 60's escapist feeling, with the required happy ending. Highly recommended. I have tried to track this movie down, and have seen it advertised on DVD, but none of the Indian suppliers on the web seem to have a copy in stock.
