The Origin of HipHop!!!
meddlecore20 January 2011
The long lost film starring the Original Last Poets.

Director Herbert Danska captures Gylain Kain, Felipe Luciano and David Nelson, on film as the perform their revolutionary beat poetry on the rooftops, fire escapes and back alleys of Harlem, NY.

This film is a combination of documentary, filmed live performance and music video for a collection of The Last Poet's classic tracks. At times Danska uses the cinematic technique of double and even triple exposure...one or two exposures showing the beat poets and musicians performing their art, shown over scenes of New York City- from pans of the cityscape, to graffiti filled alleys, and even banal shots of people just kickin' it on the streets or on their own rooftops. During each song/poem Danska juxtaposes images and clips that reflect the lyrics, or at the very least compliments them.

Source wasn't the best quality, but as far as i know, its all that exists of this incredible film! A valuable look at the Origin of Hip-Hop. A must see for all Hip-Hop Historians! Definite 10 out of 10.
