While The Black List may be getting most of the press from entertainment news circles when it's announced in December, there's another compilation of the best new ideas and writing being offered to Hollywood movie studios and producers. It's called The Hit List (Thl), and it differs from The Black List in one fundamental way: whereas The Black List (Tbl) is a list of the top unproduced screenplays in Hollywood, several of the screenplays on that list have been purchased or are in development.
Take a look at last year's Black List (Part 1 is here, Part 2 is here) and here we are, one year later, and several of the scripts that made the 2009 list will be coming out in 2011 -- or have already been released (like The Social Network or Due Date). The Hit List is different in that it seeks to give attention to spec screenplays -- that is,...

Yahoo movies got 3 new clips from the upcoming action adaptation of the popular 80's television series, The A-Team. Carnahan and the Scott brothers say they will use the original premise of the series as the template for an action film. In the original, four Vietnam vets convicted of armed robbery escape from military prison and became do-gooder mercenaries. The Middle East will replace Vietnam as the place the four did their tour of duty, but Carnahan said the origin story is the jumping-off point. The original series, which ran from 1983-87 and starred George Peppard, Mr. T, Dirk Benedict and Dwight Schultz, followed an unofficial team of Vietnam vets who will stop at nothing to get the bad guys. Sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit, these four commandos escaped from a maximum-security stockade and now survive in the Los Angeles underground as soldiers of fortune.

While speculation continues as to just who will play the lead characters in director Joe Carnahan's big screen version of The A-Team — Bradley Cooper as Face, Bruce Willis as Hannibal, Common as B.A. and Woody Harrelson as Murdock have all been rumored as attached to the project at one point or another — we have word today that the filmmakers have at least determined a production location...and it's right here in Vancouver.
The A-Team production will set up shop at an undesignated studio in Burnaby, as soon as Chris Columbus' fantasy/comedy Percy Jackson — starring Uma Thurman, Rosario Dawson, Steve Coogan and Pierce Brosnan — wraps production in the same facility on July 18.
According to our sources, it's likely actual shooting on The A-Team won't commence until sometime in either July or August.

Fox's big-screen version of "A-Team" looks to be finally coming together.
Joe Carnahan is in negotiations to helm the action movie with Ridley and Tony Scott's shingle Scott Free coming on board as producers. Stephen J. Cannell, who co-created the show, is also producing.
The trek to bring "A-Team" to the big screen has been a long one, with various actors, directors and writers landing on it before springing off of it. John Singleton was last attached, but ultimately left after casting issues stalled the project.
Carnahan, meanwhile, has been facing challenges with his passion projects that were to have been follow-ups to his kinetic movies "Smokin' Aces" and "Narc." "White Jazz" was muted when it encountered casting and financing issues. "Bunny Lake Is Missing" disappeared when star Reese Witherspoon hopped away.
Fox is betting this is the right combination, setting a June 11, 2010, release date for the feature, which is written by Skip Woods.
