The Boys Season 4 is one of the most awaited releases on Prime Video. It’s expected to be the most intense part of the series yet. The last season finished in 2022. Then, in 2023, a new series called Gen V was released to connect the story until Season 4. Now, Season 4 is getting ready to answer any questions, and seems like it will be a crucial part of The Boys’ story.
It might bring big changes for Hughie and Butcher, but not necessarily good ones. In the previous season, Butcher and Hughie gained superpowers from Temp-v, Homelander became even more unstable, and Soldier Boy seemingly died. The ending hinted at what’s to come in Season 4.
Homelander is now taking care of his son Ryan, and it looks like he’s teaching him to be violent. With the story reaching even higher stakes, fans are eagerly waiting for Season 4 to hit Amazon Prime Video.

Forty-nine years after playing a major role in the Steven Spielberg classic Jaws (and fourteen years after making an appearance in Alexandre Aja’s Piranha 3D), Richard Dreyfuss has been cast in another film that promises to be packed with aquatic thrills, Vigilante Diaries director Christian Sesma’s Into the Deep. This one managed to get all the way into post-production before catching the attention of the folks at The Daily Jaws.
Scripted by Chad Law and Josh Ridgway – who have previously collaborated on the alligator movie The Flood, the Dolph Lundgren action thriller Section 8, the biker werewolf movie Howlers, and the mystery Miss Willoughby and the Haunted Bookshop – Into the Deep has the following synopsis: A group of divers searching for sunken treasure witness the murder of drug dealers by modern-day pirates, but a killer great white is determined not to let any of them escape its waters.

There is no task too tough for “Gen V’s” makeup department head Colin Penman.
Across three seasons of Prime Video’s and Sony Pictures Television’s “The Boys,” and now its spinoff, “Gen V,” Penman has been assigned to creating an exploding penis, a five-foot-tall penis and, most recently, puppets who get into a bloody massacre.
The show’s executive producers Eric Kripke and Michele Fazekas wanted to take a fight sequence idea to the next level for “Gen V.” Penman happened to have puppet-making skills on his resume.
Fazekas explained the genesis behind the idea, “We had talked about real Sam [Asa Germann], and his arc is sort of struggling with mental illness. We said, ‘If he’s under stress and hallucinating, what is “The Boys” world’s version of a hallucination?'”

After the tremendous success that was Gen V Season 1, all eyes are on The Boys Season 4.
Thankfully, Prime Video has confirmed the next chapter will be streaming in 2024.
To celebrate the news, Amazon unveiled two teaser photos for The Boys Season 4, featuring Billy Butcher, portrayed by Karl Urban, and Homelander, portrayed by Antony Starr.
Both actors recently appeared at the end of Gen V Season 1, setting up the storyline for the original series in the franchise's fourth season.
But a lot can change between seasons, as evidenced by the end of The Boys Season 3 and the end of Gen V Season 1 Episode 8.
We don't fully know how Gen V will impact The Boys Season 4, but it sounds like we're getting an interconnected universe at first glance.

Deep Fear, not to be confused with last year’s film about monsters under the streets of Paris (which is probably why they added the “Sharks vs Narcs” subtitle to the film for its digital release), is a call back to the shark films of the past. Not to Jaws or its imitators but to something earlier, like Shark!, Shark’s Treasure, and The Deep where the sharks were a secondary plot element, an added threat for the protagonists to face in addition to other humans.
In the case of Deep Fear that would be Naomi whom we first see showing her co-worker Barney how easily a reef shark can be steered away from people. When she surfaces her partner Jackson that he’s booked another tour.

As gory as "The Boys" has been over the years, the most haunting moment in the series is not a moment of violence. As bad as Robin's death was, or as gross as it was to see poor Deep eat his octopus friend, the most disturbing moment might actually be the early season 2 episode where Homelander (Antony Starr) drinks a bottle of milk. It's not just any milk, mind you: It's the recently-thawed breast milk of his recently-deceased lover, Miss Madelyn Stillwell.
But that's still not enough context. To understand the full depravity of this scene, you must also know that Stillwell and Homelander had a bizarre mother/son sexual dynamic throughout season 1, and Homelander spent several episodes jealous of Stillwell's baby, who she was breastfeeding regularly. It's only armed with that information that we can understand just how weird it is to see a horny Homelander warm up Stillwell's...

Nothing makes a show worth investing in as much as a great season-long arc.
Starting the season while having no idea what you're in for, slowly discovering what the writers have prepared for you, and then getting an epic conclusion is one of the best feelings.
Gen V Season 1 spent considerable time developing the season-long arc, but on Gen V Season 1 Episode 7, the show abandoned that for other vane pursuits.
Most of what the writers had been trying to keep a secret was revealed apart from the motivations behind Shetty's work in the woods.
We tried to predict what that was in our Gen V Season 1 Episode 6 review; it would seem I was half-right.
She harbored a great disdain for supes, which didn't come as a surprise because destruction is their middle name.
It's not just Homelander. You all leave a path of destruction behind you. You have ruined countless lives.

This post contains spoilers for episode 4 of "Gen V."
Godolkin University, or GodU, harbors many unsavory secrets, but the most sinister cover-up so far is The Woods, an underground facility where young Supes are brutally experimented on. Even though "Gen V" has offered crumbs to help us gradually understand this covert project, there's a lot we don't comprehend yet, especially in relation to Sam (Asa Germann), who has now been rescued, thanks to Emma (Lizzy Broadway). Based on previous flashbacks and Sam's enraged outburst in the latest episode, it appears his superpower is brutal superstrength, which might have been augmented due to intense experimentation in The Woods.
Things take a darker turn when Sam is alone with Emma at the abandoned game parlor after their bloody escape from the underground facility. Having bonded with Emma, who gently assures Sam she will never abandon him, Sam is afraid of losing her.

Chace Crawford's The Deep has quietly turned into the Mvp of "The Boys": a character who you love to hate, who is just the right amount of pitiful that makes you want to watch more of him, but not pitiful enough that you feel bad when things don't go his way. This is mostly due to Crawford's portrayal of the character, who -- unlike Homelander or the other villains of the show -- is terrifying because of how ordinary he is. The Deep is just some loser with a position of power, and that makes him scary, especially when involved in less fantastical, more relatable storylines.
Still, The Deep has also been involved in some of the funniest storylines in the show, like his accidental killing of every single sea creature he comes across, even ones he is weirdly sexually involved with, and also that time he got involved with a cult.

It's a tale as old as it is tragic: another famous male superhero has had his bulge digitally removed in post-production. In a 2019 interview with Daily Mail Australia, Chace Crawford talked about how his infamous fish-loving character The Deep was originally supposed to have a comically large penis, one that viewers could clearly see the imprint of through his outfit. "[Showrunner Eric] Kripke was like, 'We get no notes from Amazon, but the first one we got was that [the bulge] can't f***ing happen, we've got to take that out."
Sure enough, the prosthetic was removed, and all of The Deep's scenes that were already filmed had his fake penis downsized via CGI. It's a shame though, because both Crawford and Kripke seemed to find it hilarious. "I don't think anyone got a bigger kick out of it than Eric Kripke," Chase told Entertainment Weekly. "He thought it was the funniest thing in the world.

Now streaming through Amazon Prime, “The Boys” (based on the best-selling comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson) puts a bold,...

In the 1970s, no one expected the first "Star Wars" movie to be such a runaway hit, least of all theater exhibitors. Writer-director George Lucas famously shopped around his script to studios like United Artists, Universal Pictures, and even future Lucasfilm owner Disney, according to Vanity Fair, but he couldn't secure financing with any of them. Though Lucas had already earned two Academy Award nominations for his pre-"Star Wars" masterpiece, "American Graffiti," his previous foray into science fiction, "Thx 1138," had fared less successful. It was only 20th Century Fox, led by Alan Ladd Jr. at the time, that was willing to take a chance on Lucas and his space opera.
Getting "Star Wars" made was just the first step for Lucas. Fox had to distribute it next, and as Mental Floss notes, it was afraid the movie would flop if released as part of a packed summer schedule.

If you're an actor on the Prime Video comic book adaptation "The Boys," it's pretty much guaranteed that you'll eventually find yourself in an undignified position. The satirical series has a no-holds-barred approach to poking fun at superheroes that can sometimes get pretty perverted and gloriously gross, and that means that the actors have to be up for just about anything. Antony Starr has to lean into the whole creepy milk fetish thing that Homelander has going on, for example, and just about everyone gets covered in blood and bits of gore at some point.
For Laz Alonso, who plays Mother's Milk, there's one episode in particular that still haunts him, and he's ready to leave that entire experience behind him.
In the ridiculous "Herogasm" episode of "The Boys"season 3, Mother's Milk (aka M.M.) and the sweet-but-steadfast Starlight (Erin Moriarty) head to Herogasm to try and warn the attendees...

The 2022 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest saw the Netherlands singing in its language for the first time in twelve years, or eleven Eurovision installments. S10’s “De Diepte,” which translates to “the depth” or “the abyss” in English, is a wonderful and enlightening song about depression and getting out of it. Today, we will continue to understand non-English Eurovision entries. This time, De Diepte. We seek to let Europe, the world rather, of such meaningful songs that the public may have overlooked because they did not appreciate the language. The significance of the title De Diepte, as stated earlier,

"Extreme sports have extreme consequences." So says the father of safety diver Stephen Keenan in Laura McGann's "The Deepest Breath," a documentary set in the world of freediving, a sport in which competitors dive to the deepest depths possible without the aid of scuba tanks. The danger is established in its opening moments, as the camera plunges underwater with a diver and follows her back upward, only for her to black out just a few meters from the surface. That type of physical response to the incredible stress of these dives is fairly common, and luckily, the professionals have safety divers tracking their progress, on the lookout for warning signs and ready to save lives at a moment's notice. Stephen Keenan was one such safety diver, an Irish adventurer and wanderer who found his purpose deep in the waters off the Egyptian coast. But something happened to Stephen. He's...

Exclusive: Nick Nolte (Graves) and Jacqueline Bisset (Birds of Paradise) will star alongside Oliver Masucci (Fantastic Bests: The Secrets of Dumbledore) in Shelter Me, a pandemic-set psychological drama marking the directorial debut of actor Jake Weber.
The film will be Nolte and Bisset’s third together, on the heels of Peter Yates’ 1977 treasure-hunter adventure The Deep, based on Peter Benchley’s 1976 novel of the same name, and Til Schweiger’s 2018 Alzheimer’s dramedy, Head Full of Honey.
Shelter Me is an anthology of storylines set against the international backdrop of Covid-19. Masucci portrays Jon Boylan, an A.I. research scientist who is unable to intimately connect with members of his test group (Nolte and Bisset). He subsequently develops a remote monitoring system that exposes personal struggles, weaknesses and strengths during isolation that come to a reckoning, as their layers of personality begin to peel away.

Dir: Baltasar Kormákur. Starring: Idris Elba, Iyana Halley, Leah Sava Jeffries, Sharlto Copley. 15, 93 minutes.
A shot of Idris Elba socking a lion in the face isn’t just the dramatic denouement of Beast – it’s the film’s entire raison d’etre. No one’s here for the scenes of Elba’s well-intentioned patriarch attempting to heal his fractured family, or the vague sentiments about nature’s karmic vengeance. Audiences will turn up because a trailer promised to show them one of our most charismatic A-listers in a boxing match with a roided-out kitty cat. Everything that comes before is just the warm-up for the main event.
In that sense, it’s impossible to argue that Beast doesn’t live up to its promise, because the only promise was another piece of recyclable pop-culture imagery. Beast is the latest entry in the man vs arbitrary animal Hall of Fame, filed...

Generally speaking, it's sound advice to never take work home with you. That advice should probably be considered a requirement for the cast and crew of "The Boys." The superhero satire has never once pulled its punches from depicting some of the grossest, most disturbing, and abjectly violent imagery to grace (curse?) our television screens in recent memory. When the latest season focused on the increasing threat of a Superman analogue with a sociopathic thirst for validation and power (Antony Starr's Homelander), a spoof on Captain America who lacks any and all sense of morals (Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy), and an Aquaman riff (Chace Crawford's The Deep) who comes with a laundry list of personal failings and flaws, well, that's just the nature of the beast.
The Deep started out as an utterly unsympathetic sexual predator and has since "progressed" to the butt of everyone's joke. He's still glaringly...

A family goes on African trip. Things go wrong. Family must survive versus a killer lion. The plot behind Universal’s newest summer film “Beast” is exceedingly simple, yet its simplicity is what attracted Icelandic director Baltasar Kormákur to the project. For him, the story of a lion-gone-rogue allowed him to flex his genre filmmaking muscles.
“I didn’t think about it then, but when I read the script, I thought, it’s a simple story. But it allows for a lot of filmmaking,” says Kormákur, who previously went undersea for “The Deep” and to Nepal for “Everest.” “I can play with this, I can push it a little bit and do something a little different with it. Because it’s not so plot heavy and complicated. And there are not too many characters that you have to introduce. And I liked the idea of doing something more genre.”

“It’s the law of the jungle,” one character says fairly early on in Beast — “early” as in after we’ve established that a lion decides to become a four-legged vigilante once some poachers slaughter his pride, but before this one-cat army sets his sights on our hero and his family. The way the man inhales and pauses before he delivers the next line suggests he’s about to drop some serious science: “The only law that matters here.” Ah. Ok!
To be fair, there are other laws that also apply to this survivalist thriller.

Idris Elba is undeniably the star of Will Packer’s latest movie, “Beast,” but the family story at the heart of Universal’s release was a big draw for the producer who previously shepherded “Girls Trip.” In the movie, debuting in theaters Aug. 19, Elba plays Nate Samuels, a recently widowed doctor who returns to South Africa with his two teenage daughters (Iyana Halley and Leah Sava Jeffries) and must fight to survive from a man-hunting lion.
Packer sought to offer a balance for the late summer movie calendar. “I loved the idea that it just happens to be a Black family in peril,” Packer says. “It’s not just about man versus beast – it’s a man protecting his daughters. It’s universal in those themes.”

The pitch is pretty strong. It’s Idris Elba versus a lion. It’s Jaws on land. And it’s from a director who has well-proven teeth when it comes to the action and disaster movie genres. Icelander Baltasar Kormákur, who made true story-based adventures Everest and The Deep, as well as actioners including 2 Guns and Contraband, has a further connection to the material. When he was little, he wanted to be “a lion scientist.”
“I have always been fascinated by animals, but [particularly] lions. So I was like, ‘Okay, this is something I would love to do,’” he tells Den of Geek magazine. Kormákur is talking to us from London, where he’s currently in the edit suite putting the finishing touches on the movie. He had one condition when agreeing to the project: “I made it clear that, if I was to do this movie, I would have to shoot it in Africa.

From an audience perspective, "The Boys" has a penchant for being uniquely traumatizing. Our first warning came in the pilot's opening scene when a Flash-like superhero ran through a woman and splattered her boyfriend with her guts. If you managed to make it through that, stuck around for the Lucy the Whale fiasco, and also happened to survive the season 3 urethra explosion, then you know exactly what I'm talking about. And if it seems rough from the viewing perspective, then it's probably pretty twice as bad for the actors witnessing these horrors firsthand. Case in point: when asked how he...

We love The Boys, which is an outrageously gross and often hilarious take-down of celebrity culture, social media politics and even, occasionally, superhero stories. But we have one request for The Boys season 4 – let the female characters be as flawed as the boys!
Of course, every character in The Boys is flawed in some way, because it’s just that kind of world. And thanks to a number of male characters from the comic book series who have been gender-flipped for the show, the TV version does have a decent roster of flawed or outright villainous female characters. But in season 4, we’d love to see just a little more in the way of character flaws for the two central comics-origin female characters: Annie and Kimiko

Warning: Contains spoilers for The Boys season 3 finale & Nsfw content.
The Boys is notorious for its increasingly outrageous and darkly comic moments, starting with the gruesome death of Hughie’s girlfriend Robin in the first episode, and just getting more extreme from there. Season 3 was no exception, giving us A-Train’s horribly tone-deaf attempts to cash in on his ethnicity, The Deep’s burgeoning new relationship with an octopus, and superhero-themed dildos. We even saw a recreation of what it might have looked like if Ant-Man really had just crawled up Thanos’ rear end and exploded him from the inside.
Some of the most shocking moments from The Boys’ three seasons so far, though, have come courtesy of the leader of the Seven, the mentally unstable and terrifyingly powerful Homelander. Here are his top 10 shocking moments, ranked in order of just how outrageous they are.

This article contains spoilers for The Boys season 3.
As we’re fond of pointing out around here, no other show on television understands superhero culture and the effect of its prevalence on our world than The Boys.
In The Boys season 3, the show’s satirical take on the Western entertainment landscape remains incisive and insightful. This season finds Homelander making good on Antony Starr’s promise to become a “homicidal maniac” and in the process the world that Vought created begins to resemble our own more closely than ever before.
Still, one can’t help but wonder just how closely the world of The Boys hews towards reality. Does The Boys‘ canon have the same succession of American presidents that we do? Does the presence of fictional mega corporation Vought preclude the existence of real life monoliths like Google, Meta, and even The Boys‘ parent network Amazon? The show makes...

There seems to be a common thread with The Deep's storyline this season on "The Boys," and arguably his entire storyline across all three seasons of the show. The show has offered a lot of jokes at The Deep's expense, usually delivered wonderfully with actor Chace Crawford's on-point comedic timing.
The third season of the show really seems to be taking the jokes to another level. It has always been hinted that he has a fetish for the sea creatures he can communicate with, but the subtext has fully become text. Of course, this is a joke that has been made about...

Among the 100 top-grossing domestic movie releases, there have been three occasions when two of those films opened on the same weekend.
“Dr. Zhivago” and “Thunderball” shared Christmas 1965; “The Exorcist” and “The Sting” were Christmas 1973. And on Memorial Day Weekend 1977 there was “Smokey and the Bandit”… and “Star Wars.”
George Lucas’ film, of course, is second only to “Gone With the Wind” in tickets sold. But “Smokey” is #79 all-time, grossing $520 million (all figures here adjusted to 2022 values).
And for that first weekend, “Smokey” was actually #1. All-time, it’s a bigger hit than any “Harry Potter” film, “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” “West Side Story,” “Lawrence of Arabia,” all the “Hunger Games” films, and “Rocky.”
In May 1977, I was in my second year as a film buyer for a local Chicago exhibition chain. At that point, wide releases were not the rule and while Memorial Day was a desirable date, it wasn’t considered summer.

Exclusive: NBA star Chris Paul’s production company, Ohh Dip!!!, is teaming up with format specialist Parker Paige Media on a new competition series format called Playdate.
The show features a multi-generational set of challenges involving fish-out-of-water activities. The comedic format pits teams of two — one senior citizen and one child — against each other in a lighthearted race to the finish line. The comedic format pits teams of two — one senior citizen and one child — against each other in a lighthearted race to the finish line. Each week, the producers say, new discoveries will result from seeing things from a child’s point of view.
Paul, who is heading into his 17th NBA season as a key member of the Western Conference champion Phoenix Suns, said the show taps into his own experience. He demonstrated his own family bonds over the summer appearing in CBS’s Secret Celebrity Renovation, surprising his grandparents with a redone home.

In 1988, an oddball comedy experiment hit a certain Uhf station on Thanksgiving and as it grew, so did the MST3K connection to the holiday.
Sometimes a long-running TV show finds itself linked to a certain holiday. Community had Christmas. The Simpsons has Halloween. Brooklyn 99 had Halloween, then changed it to Cinco de Mayo for scheduling reasons. Saturday Night Live has...Election Day, I guess? I probably should have thought this through a bit more.
While Mystery Science Theater 3000 has done a handful of Christmas-themed episodes, the series has a much deeper releationship with Thanksgiving. Turkey Day is essentially its legacy. It started on Thanksgiving and it always comes back to that one Thursday in late November, whether the show is on the air or not.
Back in 1988, Joel Hodgson created a new show idea inspired by a random image from the liner notes of an Elton John album,...

We compare two stunning works of recent speculative fiction: Queen of the Conquered by Kacen Callender & The Deep by Rivers Solomon.
The trans-Atlantic slave trade has formed so many facets of modern cultural relationships, it’s hard to understate the impact of that in human industry. In Queen of the Conquered, Kacen Callendar reimagines the Caribbean in the era of slavery, setting it far closer to its European neighbors and infusing it with magic. In The Deep, Rivers Solomon—basing their novella off of the Hugo-nominated song of the same title from experimental hip hop group clipping (which in turn drew inspiration from the music of Drexciya)—an entire marine species was birthed from pregnant mothers thrown off of slave ships. In their anger, they can cause the seas to rage against the surface dwellers who would continue to oppress them.
While both delve heavily into...
