Interesting views on a long-gone country

"Pensioners never have time" might be an English translation of this East German TV serial's title.

In the current brave new world, you can buy a magazine (SuperIllu) at the supermarket that comes with a DVD which contains the first two episodes of this serial. Sort of like a a time machine. I've almost completely stopped watching today's TV, but love to watch old TV shows.. Dragnet, Tales of Tomorrow, Decoy..

This serial is of course quite different. No crime or science fiction, just family stories. Be it the traditional "Huckelkuchen" or a semi-drama about mushroom poisoning.. small issues in the grand flow of things, yet lovely vignettes of everyday life in GDR, a fallen-flag country since 30 years - and still apparently present in the minds of both ex-East and (at least some) ex-West Germans.. Recommended viewing, if you're interested in cultural history.
