Killer cyborgs, A-list megastars, groundbreaking visual effects And a kick-ass soundtrack! It can mean only one thing. Yes, that’s right, good friends of JoBlo, uber director James Cameron is back to show us exactly how to follow up one of the biggest smash hits of your career with a sequel that had to surpass the expectations of even the most hardcore fan of the original movie, and also show the world how to revolutionize modern VFX…Again. Cameron had already wowed audiences with The Terminator back in 1984 and had proven that he could create impressive sequels to existing sci-fi franchises with the action-heavy Aliens in 1986. He’d also made great strides with visual effects in 1989’s The Abyss so could his original vision of having a liquid terminator in the franchise really work?

The heat is back on in this episode of Revisited, as we follow up our last outing with Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop with the inevitable sequel. Part one proved to be such a mammoth hit that not only helped send Eddie Murphy’s career into the stratosphere but it guaranteed that part two wouldn’t be too far away.
If you take a look back at the 1980s, which is something we love to do here at JoBlo, there are many franchises that started in the era and still have longevity or an influence in modern Hollywood. However, when you have a movie as popular as Beverly Hills Cop, that doesn’t necessarily mean that a sequel will match the quality of the first, and it’s been a problem that Hollywood has faced over the years. Just how, exactly, do you keep your inbuilt audience happy while...

With so many horrible sequels available, picking the ten worst sequels of all time was challenging. Indeed, there have been numerous instances where sequels have fallen far short of their original counterparts, making them infamous examples of ‘how not to do a sequel.’
Thankfully, viewers on IMDb did most of the work for us, sharing their valuable insights and ratings, which we’ve used to compile this list.
What follows is a painstakingly curated breakdown of each terrible sequel. We delve into what specifically made these follow-ups lackluster and disappointing. Some of these sequels found their unfortunate place on this list despite being birthed from incredibly successful and well-received franchises.
They had every ingredient for success – a captive audience, proven characters, and established lore, yet they managed to fumble. Conversely, others continued on an already rocky path of subpar predecessor films, cementing their series as characterized by chronic cinematic failure.

Jason Bateman is a versatile star who has appeared in such high-profile movies as Hancock, The Switch, and Horrible Bosses. His status in Hollywood rose even higher after his work in hit series like Arrested Development and Ozark. Bateman is no flash in the pan and has been hard at work in Hollywood for decades. In fact, his career started when he was just 10 years old after he was cast in a series of TV commercials before landing his breakout role in the beloved series Little House on the Prairie, becoming a bonafide child star.
Soon, Bateman was focusing so hard on his acting career that he had little time for anything else — even admitting in an interview with his Horrible Bosses co-star Jennifer Aniston that he didn’t graduate high school because of his work.

Can you believe the guy that played Stiles is now in his 50s? Stuart Fratkin played the wisecracking, fast-talking friend of Todd Howard in Teen Wolf Too, a movie that probably won’t go down in history as one of the greatest cult classics since it followed on the heels of the movie that made it possible, the original Teen Wolf. Looking at the Teen Wolf series of today one has to wonder just how things got so dark in such a hurry when the original movie was so light-hearted and fun. Stiles was your typical huckster though, doing whatever he

Amazon Prime Video has confirmed that several of its original series will be debuting new episodes on the streaming service in August, including the first season of “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan.” John Krasinski, who is red-hot following the success of his winter hit “A Quiet Place,” takes on the role of the CIA spy that has been played on the big screen by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine.
Likewise, there will be plenty of movies making their first appearances on Amazon Prime Video including the action comedy “Gringo,” which stars David Oyelowo as a businessman who unwittingly becomes involved with a Mexican drug cartel.
Unlike Netflix, Amazon does not disclose the shows and movies leaving the service in any given month. We’ve done some digging and unearthed a few titles that will be exiting Amazon Prime Video in the first week of August. News...

Not all teenage werewolf movies are created equal.
As a kid, I couldn’t have been more primed to see 1985’s Teen Wolf, a movie that seemed positively made just for me. I was obsessed with star Michael J. Fox, first from his TV work as Alex P. Keaton on Family Ties and then as Marty McFly in Back to the Future, to this day my favorite movie of all time. Werewolves have always been my movie monster of choice, even as a boy of just eight years old. Combining Michael J. Fox with werewolves—in a high school comedy, no less, then (and possibly still) one of my favorite film genres—seemed a foolproof recipe for a classic. And, in its way, Teen Wolf is a classic: a movie that’s probably as good as it can be while still being far from great. It’s sweet, it means well,...

When you think of Jason Bateman the first thing that generally comes to mind is Arrested Development. I always think of The Hogan Family and Teen Wolf Too but that’s just me I suppose. The point is that 90% of the time Bateman is usually in some kind of role where he plays an intelligent middle aged guy who knows he’s smarter than most people, has a very smug and sarcastic way about him, and he makes us laugh. So when people first heard of the Netflix show Ozark that he’s starring in I think many just assumed this was

His reimagining of the song "Go Tell Aunt Rhody" is currently haunting gamers playing Resident Evil 7, and in our latest Q&A, we caught up with composer Michael A. Levine to discuss his key contribution to the game. In today's Horror Highlights, we also have a Comet network contest, an excerpt from Stuart R. West's Demon with a Comb-Over, and a Q&A with Bloodlands writer/director Steven Kastrissios.
Q&A with Composer Michael A. Levine: Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Michael. How did you get involved with creating the theme song “Go Tell Aunt Rhody” for Resident Evil 7?
Michael A. Levine: The makers of the game, Capcom, were familiar with a track I produced (with Lucas Cantor) for Lorde: a dark and mysterious reimagining of the ’80s classic "Everybody Wants to Rule The World," which was used in Hunger Games: Catching Fire...

When you look back on your childhood through a rainbow haze of nostalgia and Kool-Aid binges, everything looks pretty darn spectacular. Life was simpler, Saturday morning cartoons were your heaviest commitment, Twizzlers were a lot cheaper, and every movie was super awesome.
How awesome were they, though, when you finally recover from your Kool-Aid hangover? Look, it's tough to rag on kids' movies -- no one wants to be the person to call out adorable anthropomorphic animals. It's not a good look. But we're here to do the hard jobs: To save our children from suffering through some horrible sequels. To save you from watching the same terrible movie 12 times per week with tiny, obsessive humans. To cut through the crap once and for all.
'Son of the Mask' (2005)

The '80s was a great decade for werewolf movies. 1981 alone gave us two stone-cold classics of the genre: Joe Dante's "The Howling" and John Landis's "An American Werewolf in London." But what of Michael Wadleigh's "Wolfen"? The 1981 adaptation of Whitley Strieber's novel may be less fondly remembered than its contemporaries, but it enjoys something of a cult status today, hailed by admirers for its mixture of social commentary, police procedural and straightforward horror elements. (Some would even argue that it's not really a werewolf movie at all.) Now, more than 30 years on from its theatrical debut, "Wolfen" is hitting Blu-ray for the first time -- and to mark the occasion we're posing the question: what is the best werewolf movie of the 1980s? Are you a "Company of Wolves" adherent? A "Teen Wolf" aficionado? Or do you prefer the low-budget charm of Larry Cohen's...

The below video also features contributions from Tina Fey, discussing what it is that makes this role so special for Jason. Check it out below, then let us know what you think in the comments. In many ways this was always going to be a ‘Marking Time’ summer. The hoopla of debuting blockbusters was constantly being eclipsed by breaking news about the big summer movies of 2015/16. With photos and plot details being drip-fed all summer from the sets of Star Wars: Episode VII, Avengers: Age of Ulton and Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, it took a bit of effort to get genuinely excited about the upcoming fourth Transformers movie.
There was an orderly, uncontroversial tone to the summer line-up this year; everybody behaved as predicted. There were no Lone Rangers or John Carters; no Battleship-level disasters. The biggest disappointments of the season were probably Seth MacFarlane’s Ted follow-up, A Million Ways to Die in The West and the entirely unwanted Expendables 3 (which scraped back $27m; barely enough to cover the cod liver oil and Sanatogen allowance for the cast).

MTV’s hit show Teen Wolf was already renewed for a fifth season, but for now, fans are more focused on how season 4 is going to end. When the cast stopped by EW’s Comic-Con hangout, they hinted at more fighting, scary monsters, and both new and old villains appearing before season’s end. They also chatted with Anthony Breznican about Jason Bateman’s Teen Wolf Too and… something about a tutu.
The cast also stopped by EW Radio (SiriusXM 105), where they reminisced about their first Comic-Con and talked about the growth of their fan base.
Teen Wolf airs Mondays at 10 p.

Bad Words
Starring Jason Bateman, Kathryn Hahn, Phillip Baker Hall
Directed by Jason Bateman
Rated R
It only seems like yesterday that Jason Bateman was starring in one of the biggest sequel turds of all time, Teen Wolf Too, and whose own career was seemingly destined to be the male Judy Greer in any and all big studio rom-com. Then came a little TV show called Arrested Development, followed by a few choice film roles and today we are talking about Jason Bateman, movie star and now director. While the director part may have been inevitable career choice (since he has directed quite a few TV episodes from various shows) and you can certainly debate how big a star Bateman really is, the guy has parlayed his career quite well. Bad Words, Bateman’s first feature film directorial effort, is a movie that after seeing the trailers, I felt I was going to like.

Since making his acting debut at age 12 on Little House on the Prairie, Jason Bateman has been primarily known as a TV star. He followed that show with main roles on Silver Spoons, Valerie (aka Valerie's Family and The Hogan Family) and a number of less successful series before resurrecting his career with Arrested Development. But he's tried a few times to make the leap to the big screen. In the 1980s it was with the disappointing sequel Teen Wolf Too. In the 1990s there was the mediocre football comedy Necessary Roughness. And in the 2000s, he went for supporting roles in stuff as varied as Starsky & Hutch, Hancock, The Break-Up, The Kingdom and Juno. Now, with the new comedy Bad Words, Bateman is on track to finally become a true leading man at the...

The career of Jason Batemen is rather fascinating. Rising from a sidekick on Silver Spoons early in his career, he stumbled through a number of films that his sister's sit-com sibling would pass on (including the truly egregious Teen Wolf Too). He showed up as a minor character in a few projects here and there but never really broke through until his starring role in Arrested Development showed a new generation of viewers the comedic skills of the actor.Of late, he's made a number of stinkers (ie., Identity Thief) but also lent his hand to some excellent projects like Tropic Thunder or Up In The Air. With Bad Words, we see Bateman taking the center stage, both as leading man and his debut as director. Yes, this is a high concept comedy, and one that...

While Jason Bateman was recognisable to some with roles in features such as Teen Wolf Too, the cult hit show Arrested Development garnered him a whole new set of fans, and a new career trajectory that led to roles in films such as Horrible Bosses, Juno, Hancock, Extract, and Identity Thief. Many fans, however, were interested to learn that not only would Bateman be starring in his next feature, he would be making his feature film directorial debut as well. Working on a script by Andrew Dodge, the film, titled Bad Words, sees Bateman working with a cast that includes Allison Janney, Kathryn Hahn, Rohan Chand, Rachael Harris, and Philip Baker Hall. The first red-band trailer for the film has now been released, and can be seen below.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but the reemergence of Jason Bateman as a leading man, particularly in comedies, has been really great. Bateman has come a long way since Teen Wolf Too, making a hilarious splash in films like Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, Juno, Up In The Air, Horrible Bosses, and of course, Arrested Development. He's kind of the perfect "everyman" although he can play a good "bad" guy as well. With Bad Words, his...

The direct to video market and the recent remake boom together have created a curious anomaly that hasn’t yet received a label that really fits it. Case in point, I’m not sure really what do call this latest incarnation in the “Fright Night” series. Is it a sequel to a remake or is it a remake of a sequel? It’s supposed to be perceived by the general horror watching public, as a sequel to the Colin Farrell “Fright Night” remake, but anyone who is familiar with the first two films could compare it to the 1988 sequel to the original. Both have lead lady vampires after a lead male vampire in the first films. See how confusing it can get.

Last year we ran a schedule of every TV/Cable network schedule we could find that could be construed as Horror or Halloween related for the month of October. Let’s just say it proved useful for our readers and even for our staff when they were looking to find something to watch, wanted to program their DVR’s or didn’t want to miss out on some great “live” Horror. Isn’t there something about having a movie fed to you on TV as opposed to watching it on Blu-ray or DVD or streaming? We may not like commercials, but the randomness that you can associate with a TV program itinerary is novel. It removes a little bit of control from the audience who is all to concerned with being in control these days (just look at the reasons behind publishing a piece like this).

Every now and then something great comes out of "Jimmy Kimmel Live," especially when he rounds up a slew of celebrities for his faux movie trailers or picks on Matt Damon. Such is the case with a recent appearance from Jack Black on the show who revealed a sizzle reel for a new film that he and Tenacious D partner Kyle Gass have been really passionate about. If Teen Wolf Too with Jason Bateman wasn't the Teen Wolf sequel you were hoping for, then this superior sequel Adult Wolf should do the trick. After all, would a high school basketball star werewolf go on to fame? Or would he ride that wave to sadness? Watch! Here's Jack Black and Kyle Gass' Adult Wolf from "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on ABC: It's great to see John C. McGinley, Rachel Bilson, and Ed Begley, Jr. popping up to have some fun in this little comedic short.

As a lead actor, Jason Bateman should be used to negative reviews. From his first starring role in Teen Wolf Too through his new film Identity Thief, his Rotten Tomotoes page has a lot of green splotches. The Switch, Couples Retreat, The Change-Up are all certified rotten. But does that mean he needs a better agent? Of course not. He's getting work, he's getting paid, and some of his movies are relatively successful. Even The Switch seems to have earned above its budget, surprisingly. And, to be fair, he produced his latest, as well as his previous negatively received effort, the documentary Mansome. Say what you want about him squandering his talent, but it's his choice and Identity Thief will probably make a good amount of cash this weekend. So, let's talk about...

Jason Bateman is a lifetime member of Hollywood. At the age of 12 he was playing James Cooper Ingalls on Little House on The Prairie, in his teens he made movies like Teen Wolf Too (not the highlight of his career) and now in adulthood he's starring in blockbuster comedies and was the lead character on one of the most beloved shows of all time: Arrested Development. One area that he has never explored, however, is feature directing. Though he actually holds the record as the Directors Guild of America's youngest ever member, since he directed an episode of Valerie's Family when he was 20, he has never gotten into the chair for a movie. That's about to change. Variety says that Bateman is set to make his directorial debut on an indie comedy called Bad Words. While nothing has been confirmed, there are also whispers that the actor/director will star...

Werewolves are the Rodney Dangerfield of the Monster world, by which I mean they gets no respect and they are completely insane. That’s the joy of the werewolf: Whereas vampires represent everything attractive and high-falutin’ about society — eternal youth, sex appeal, being vaguely European — werewolves are all about the loss of control. That can be played for drama (as in the original Wolf Man), or for comedy (see: Teen Wolf), or for terribleness (see: the remake of Wolf Man and Teen Wolf Too.) Next week sees the return to the big screen of your niece’s favorite werewolf, Taylor Lautner’s Jacob Black,...

Just because, everyone likes Teen Wolf and ‘NBA Fans’ are part of everyone, so, there you go. Math. I’m actually much more concerned with the viewing guide description for Teen Wolf: “The new star of a high school basketball team has red eyes, fangs, and lots of hair.” Not specific enough! Jason Bateman can't go anywhere or talk about his other movies without the topic of Arrested Development coming up. Good! If not for the lovable sitcom, Bateman would probably best be known as the kid from Teen Wolf Too. Arrested Development put him on the map, and we want to see the movie. Can't say it's his fault though.
