Fey and Carell previously starred in the 2010 comedy “Date Night,” in which they played a married couple. Their characters in “The Four Seasons” have not yet been announced.
The film follows three couples who go on quarterly vacations together, where the stresses and joys of marriage get magnified, especially after one of the men leaves his wife for a younger woman and begins bringing her on the trips. The film’s point-of-view couple is played by Alan Alda (who also wrote and directed) and Carol Burnett. The film was previously adapted into a short-lived sitcom in 1984.

Steve Carell is reuniting with Tina Fey and Universal Television.
The Office grad has closed a deal to co-star in Netflix’s The Four Seasons, the update of the 1981 Alan Alda feature film of the same name. The role reunites Carell with Tina Fey after the duo starred as a married couple in the 2010 movie Date Night.
Ordered straight-to-series in January after Netflix won the show following a bidding war after the conclusion of last year’s dual strikes, the adaptation was co-created by Fey and her fellow 30 Rock alums Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield.
Production on the series is slated to begin later this year. The original film, written and directed by Alda, revolves around three couples who take vacations together each season and explores the changes in the group dynamic when one of couples splits up and the man brings a much younger woman on subsequent trips. When Euphoria eventually returns for its third season, Rue and friends will no longer be in high school.
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that multiple factors are behind HBO’s decision to delay production on the third season of the drama starring Zendaya, notably conversations between the network and creator Sam Levinson on where the action will be set after the characters leave high school. Initially slated to begin in the coming months, production is now forced to hit pause as the creative team and network hash out the new world.
Sources close to the series say Levinson’s plan is to feature a time jump when the third season eventually returns — ideally in 2025 but no longer guaranteed. Also unclear is the number of episodes that will make up season three as Levinson and HBO go back and forth on the arcs for Rue (Zendaya), Nate (Jacob Elordi), Jules (Hunter Schafer...

Once a punchline, now a classic, Paul Verhoeven’s lusty Las Vegas spin on “All About Eve” was destroyed by critics at its release in 1995. But how many movies from that same period can boast a 1,200-seat sell-out at the Academy Museum’s Geffen Theater all these years later?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film’s star (and that year’s Razzie-winner) Elizabeth Berkley received no less than three standing ovations during her introduction on Wednesday.
She told the crowd that the property was so hot at the time that she asked her agent if it could mean an Academy Award nomination. “Every girl in Hollywood had fought for this role,” she said.
While recognizing now that was a bit of wishful thinking she did salute the audience that “got” the movie from day one.
“[‘Showgirls’] really pushed the boundaries at that time that now have been embraced — not misunderstood but truly embraced.

A sold-out crowd of 1,200 Showgirls lovers gave the film’s star Elizabeth Berkley three standing ovations during her introduction of the much-maligned, then adored 1995 camp classic at a screening at the Academy Museum’s David Geffen Theater on Wednesday.
Berkley, 49, looked radiant as she addressed the audience in glittery eyeshadow and a tailored tuxedo. She noted in her remarks that she once asked her agent after getting cast in Showgirls if there was a chance she might be nominated for an Oscar for the part. “Every girl in Hollywood had fought for this role,” she said. “So it was not a strange thing to ask.”
“So tonight I’d like to thank the Academy …. Museum,” Berkley said, to cheers from the audience.

This article contains spoilers for Curb Your Enthusiasm season 12 episode 4 “Disgruntled.”
In its 12th and final season, Curb Your Enthusiasm has finally revealed its true colors. In addition to being a highly-choreographed comedic machine with improvised dialogue, the Larry David series is also something far more recognizable: a high school comedy.
Much like Saved by the Bell, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, or even Animal House, Curb Your Enthusiasm features a regressive institution and a hero who battles against it to establish their individuality. It’s just that, on Curb Your Enthusiasm, the regressive institution isn’t a high school or college but the Ocean View Country Club and that hero isn’t a high school senior but a senior citizen.
The fictional Larry David of Curb Your Enthusiasm is like Ferris Bueller if he were a 76-year-old millionaire. As we see in season 12 episode 4 “Disgruntled,” all Larry wants to...

Two years after ending its two-year run on Peacock — and subsequently being rescued by Netflix — Meredith Scardino’s musical comedy “Girls5Eva” is ready for its new streaming home. Seasons 1 and 2 are set to move from Peacock to Netflix in March, and they’ll be accompanied by the all-new Season 3, which dropped its first trailer on Thursday.
Hailing from executive producers Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, “Girls5Eva” follows an eponymous singing group that achieved pop superstardom in the 1990s before engaging in a struggle-filled reunion in the present day. Led by a cast that includes music and Broadway veterans Sara Bareilles and Renée Elise Goldsberry, the show earned a passionate fanbase for its irreverent humor and catchy songs. What it didn’t earn on Peacock, was much of an audience.

There aren’t many child stars in Hollywood who maintained fame and wealth over decades like Mario Lopez. Lopez became famous in the 80s and 90s for playing the character A.C. Slater on NBC’s Saved by the Bell and other spin-off projects. Unsurprisingly, with his dimpled cheeks, Lopez had a growing number of female fans. Although he hasn’t starred in big-budget television series or films in years, Lopez has been a co-host of the weekday TV entertainment news program Access Hollywood, which he joined in 2019. Entering his fourth decade as an actor and television personality, Lopez has worked with and...

Apple TV+ is returning to its Bridgerton-esque period drama The Buccaneers.
Based on the unfinished Edith Wharton novel, the high-end series launched last month. It stars Christina Hendricks, Mia Threapleton (I Am Ruth), Kristine Frøseth (The Assistant), Alisha Boe (When You Finish Saving The World), Josie Totah (Saved by the Bell), Aubri Ibrag (Dive Club) and Imogen Waterhouse (The Outpost).
The Buccaneers charts goings-on in the late 19th century as a group of fun-loving young American girls explode into the tightly corseted London season, kicking off an Anglo-American culture clash as the land of the stiff upper lip is infiltrated by a refreshing disregard for centuries of tradition. Sent to secure husbands and titles, their hearts are set on much more than that, and saying “I do” is just the beginning.

As fans of movies and TV, we have seen thousands of guest stars grace our screens only to disappear forever after their purpose has been served. But once in a while a performer gives life to a character that can not be contained to just one or two episodes. Once in a while a performer brings to life a character that doesn’t just perform in a show, but comes to define it. Thus is the story of Steve Urkel, the lovable nerd from next door that was only meant for a single episode but in the hands of the talented Jaleel White became one of the most iconic characters in television history. But sometimes when you craft a character so beloved, it is hard to shake them, as audiences, and casting directors, only see that character in you. Sometimes you work so hard to shake that character from audiences...

As the daughter of the misanthropic waitress Carla (Rhea Perlman) and Nick Tortelli (Dan Hedaya) on "Cheers," the role of Serafina Tortelli was a highly coveted role for many of the young actresses in Hollywood in the early 1990s. The character was ultimately played by Leah Remini, who at the time had been making a name for herself on TV shows like "Who's The Boss," "Living Dolls," and "Saved by the Bell." This was obviously years before she'd become one of the leading sitcom wives thanks to "King of Queens" and a host with "The Talk" and "People Puzzler," but the early career role is still beloved by her fans.
In her 2015 memoir "Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology," Remini claimed the role of Serafina Tortelli on "Cheers" was between her and Jennifer Aniston. Hollywood can be a cutthroat industry, but Remini said that she and Aniston had a friendly rapport...

Exclusive: Veteran British director Susanna White has revealed she’s working on a feature film based on her teenage life set against changes in the fashion world, as she gears up for today’s launch of Apple TV+ period drama The Buccaneers.
White is developing an untitled script for the BFI, the first time she has written a feature script herself, and the plot is based on her personal coming of age story. “It’s the story of me at 13, set in the world of fashion in early 1970s,” she told Deadline in an interview. “It’s very fun, sexy and hopefully moving.”
We hear the film will follow 13-year-old Gingernut as she grows up with the fur trade’s decline playing out in the background. The plot will see her trying to make sense of her parents’ dysfunctional relationship and include themes of family, growing up, betrayal, love and loss.

Shares of Roku soared 12 percent in after hours trading Wednesday after the company beat Wall Street revenue expectations and saw improvements in its advertising business.
The company reported total net revenue of $912 million, up 20 percent year-over-year. Platform revenue at Roku, which is primarily generated from ads, has also been increasing, reaching $787 million, up 18% year-over-year, the company says, thanks to “diversifying demand sources of advertisers” on the platform, as well as expanding the number of partnerships with companies such as Spotify and Walmart.
“In Q3, the macro environment continued to pressure the overall U.S. advertising market, with ad spend on traditional linear TV down 12% YoY, and traditional TV ad scatter down 27% YoY (according to Smi). Bridgette Wilson-Sampras, who brought Sonya Blade to life in 1995’s Mortal Kombat and proved the object of Billy Madison’s juvenile affection, has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
In a statement, Bridgette Wilson-Sampras’ husband, tennis legend Pete Sampras, wrote, “This past year has been an exceptionally challenging time for my family…Last December, my wife, Bridgette, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Since then, she has had major surgery, pushed through chemotherapy and continues with targeted maintenance therapy…It is hard to watch someone you love go through a challenge like this. However, seeing our boys step up and be such strong supports of Bridgette, myself and each other has been amazing. Watching Bridgette continue to be an incredible mom and wife through it all has been inspiring.”
That Bridgette Wilson-Sampras was diagnosed nearly one year ago shows just how difficult it must be for her and her family to discuss the topic openly.

Months before Found made good on NBC’s decision to move it from a midseason to fall premiere, its creator Nkechi Okoro Carroll and star/producer Shanola Hampton, best known for Shameless, could hardly contain their enthusiasm. “I knew I wanted to do in my next project something that had meaning or purpose,” the Shameless star revealed during a set visit in Atlanta late February.
Since its Oct. 3 premiere on the heels of The Irrational — another NBC procedural starring Jesse L. Martin as celebrated behavioral science professor Alec Mercer, who helps solve high-stakes cases with his expertise in psychology, body language and other areas — Found has drawn millions of fans, reportedly becoming “Peacock’s best launch to date.” Hampton’s Gabi Mosley is a D.C.-based recovery specialist and master crisis manager leading a diverse team — most of whom, like her, were kidnapped — as they find missing people from marginalized groups.

Saulsberry, who worked on shows such as Bel Air, Girls5eva and The Voice during her time at the media conglomerate, has signed with ArtHouse Literary Agency. She will be repped by founder Felice Laverne.
It comes as she is preparing Inside A Black Girls Journal, a “guidebook to finding your voice”. We’ll be interested to see how much NBCUniversal there is in the book.

TV’s IP fetish is no coincidence. Recognizable titles and stars can guarantee strong initial tune-in off of modest marketing. But long-term results are lackluster. Just look at the past decade’s worth of revivals. Different from reboots or remakes, risky ventures in their own right, a revival features original castmembers of long-departed series revisiting characters for whom there’s an assumed appetite. Viewers aren’t often as hungry as studio brass would like. The average life span of recent revivals is three seasons, while their originals averaged eight-year runs. So as Paramount+ kicks off October by nixing one revived comedy (iCarly, starring Miranda Cosgrove, above) and attempting to mount another (Frasier with Kelsey Grammer, which premiered Oct. 12), The Hollywood Reporter examines 10 case studies from this revivals wave and where they went right … or horribly wrong.

Back in the early days of the internet, when I had to plug a phone cord into my parents’ laptop to could get into fights on Buffy the Vampire Slayer AOL forums, my friends and I were obsessed with something called SmarterChild. SmarterChild was neither smart nor a child; he, or more precisely, it, was an Aim bot, who you could ask questions about the weather or the capital of Ecuador or just engage in friendly conversation. The point of SmarterChild, at least from the vantage point of the eight-year-olds in my social circle,...

On the new series Found, however, he plays a character who once kidnapped a young girl. It’s definitely a darker kind of role than we’re used to seeing from Gosselaar. “30 years ago, I left Boston with my tail between my legs. I had dreams of returning, triumphant. Now, those dreams just keep slipping farther and farther away.”
Paramount+’s “Frasier” reboot is psychiatrist Frasier Crane’s (Kelsey Grammer) latest reinvention. He first reinvented himself when he left Boston for his hometown of Seattle (spinning off from “Cheers” to his own original series). Then he did it again when he left Seattle for Chicago to be with the woman he loved, in the series finale of “Frasier.” 19 years after the original series ended, Frasier Crane is reinventing himself once again. This time, back in Boston, with a new career in academics and a new role as a present father to his (now adult) son Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott).
If your question regarding a “Frasier” revival isn’t simply “Why?” then it’s surely “Why now?” The late 2010s saw the floodgates open...

Actor Mark-Paul Gosselaar was a teen heartthrob on the NBC sitcom Saved by the Bell. While it’s been more than a few years since Gosselaar’s day on the show, the character still follows him around today. In recent years, Gosselaar has spoken out about some of the regrets he still harbors regarding some of the show’s more questionable scenes.
Despite his reservations, Gosselaar should show himself a little grace, as should his fans, given that he was just 15 years old when the first episode of Saved by the Bell aired. Here’s a look at the ’90s teen sitcom and Gosselaar’s love-hate relationship with some of the show’s storylines.

When it comes to the popular TV shows of the past, plenty of fans who revisit their favorites have been in for a shock. Lots of “iconic” moments from shows of the 90s and early 00s have simply not aged well. Plots built around gendered double standards, stereotypes, and casual discrimination are cringe-worthy when viewed through modern eyes.
And it’s not just fans who grimace when they stumble across these out-of-place storylines. Even the stars who said the lines and played the parts are calling out their former series for helping to promote problematic ideas. That’s been the case for Saved By the Bell, a popular teen comedy that hasn’t exactly held up to current standards.

“She went, ‘What the hell are you guys doing?’ That was [her] big question.”

Mark-Paul Gosselaar admitted at ’90s Con Tampa (via Entertainment Weekly) that he brought his work home with him in a negative way while filming the short-lived Fox drama series “Pitch.” The “Saved by the Bell” alum starred in the show as a veteran baseball player who butts heads with and befriends a young teammate who happens to be the first woman to play in the MLB. Gosselaar said after filming episodes he’d go home and his “really aggressive baseball player” would stay with him.
“That’s a role though, that I don’t make light of it, but I had to go therapy with my wife,” he revealed. “I’d come in through that front door and like my wife said in therapy sessions, ‘That’s not the guy I married.’ And you’re playing this guy and then the next day, you have to jump right into that.

It was the one that got away. For two decades, TBS boasted the biggest broadcast comedies of the 1990s and 2000s with Seinfeld, Friends and then The Big Bang Theory. But, in a surprise twist, USA Network, a novice in the off-network comedy space, stunned the competition in June 2010 by outbidding everyone to land Modern Family for what was believed to be a record $1.8M an episode.
More than thirteen years later, Modern Family is getting on TBS. Starting Sept. 25, the Emmy-winning family comedy will air weekdays from 12:30-3:30 Pm. After a decade of exclusivity on NBCUniversal, the company will now share Modern Family with TBS after series’ producer/distributor 20th Television/Disney sold it to the Warner Bros. Discovery cable network in a shared syndication window.

Gracenote, a unit of Nielsen known for providing entertainment metadata and content IDs, on Tuesday unveiled a new offering to help content companies get their Free Ad-Supported Streaming (Fast) channels and programming distributed by major streaming platforms more easily. The Fast Program, which promises to “streamline” Fast initiatives, was announced at the International Broadcasting Convention (Ibc) in Amsterdam.
“Leveraging advanced data enrichment services, the Gracenote Fast Program will help Gracenote customers accelerate time-to-market for their Fast offerings just as they become increasingly important to their overall content monetization strategies,” the company said. “No longer a testing ground for content owners and publishers, Fast has matured quickly into a proven revenue driver through advertising sales. Now that Fast has grown up, content owners are realizing the need for high-quality normalized metadata and connected content IDs to facilitate distribution on streaming platforms, drive program and channel visibility as well as increase viewership.

As with so many shows and movies from decades ago, some storylines and plot points have become severely dated. Now, Saved by the Bell star Mark-Paul Gosselaar is acknowledging that some episodes of the teen sitcom probably shouldn’t have made it to production.
Appearing on the Boy Meets World rewatch podcast Pod Meets World – hosted by Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle, and Rider Strong – Mark-Paul Gosselaar said, “There was one where I was basically whoring out Lisa Turtle…I charged people to kiss her without her consent. That was a tough one.” The episode in question is “The Lisa Card”, which was just the second episode aired.
On his own podcast, Zack to the Future, Mark-Paul Gosselaar previously said that the Saved by the Bell episode in question serves as an example of just the sort of material that wouldn’t fly today. “I feel a little conflicted by this particular episode.
