Good, but semi-graphic explanation of conception through birth

I can see why this movie could be nominated for an Academy Award for Documentary Short Subject. It is a very comprehensive documentary that must have taken a lot of time to compile. It contains a lot of old computer graphics, video from inside the body and 3-D diagrams. For anyone interested in what takes place to bring about a new baby, this movie will be invaluable. The best part about it is that it gives its information objectively, without being pro-choice or pro-life. It is just pro-information. If this subject interests you, then this is one of your best options. 6/10

a pregnancy odyssey

Warning: Spoilers
Derek Bromhall's Academy Award-nominated "Journey Into Life: The World of the Unborn" looks at conception at the development of the fetus. The title might make it sound like an anti-choice screed, but it's nothing of the sort. It's a purely informational short, using only the scientific names of organs and substances. It would work well in a sex ed class.

Some of the scenes of the fetus reminded me of the end of Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey" (which celebrated its 50th anniversary last month). While not the greatest documentary ever, it's worth seeing for the info that it gives about the stages of pregnancy, all the way up to birth (it even features a birth scene).
