Glossy but empty

Gary Graver's IMDb bio predictably glosses over his prolific porno career, emphasizing instead his laudable work with Orson Welles and in indie NonSex cinema. But here we have one of his famous XXX features made as "Robert McCallum", less than meets the eye.

It's a Samantha Strong vehicle, and Sam looks great, preserved in all her beauty for fans like yours truly. But the movie itself is weak.

Its flashback structure and poor story line are off-putting, leaving the viewer with seven mainly outdoor sex scenes. Sam's suffered at the hands of her mean father (a poor, overacted performance by E. Z. Ryder) and has a weak soap opera odyssey toward a happy ending as a successful erotic still photographer, under the tutelage of sexy Nikki SInn. Earlier on she's mentored by busty stripper Rebecca Bardoux.

Location photography is the movie's main asset, though I was letdown by the fake illusion of scope and luxury by inserting some dull footage of Strong strolling around on La Croisette of Cannes, plus touristy vistas of Paris, which have nothing to do with the show at all. Similarly, final shot has her strolling down the famous red carpeted steps at the Cannes Film Festival, again for no reason.

Best scene is her skinnydipping and then having outdoor sex with boyfriend VInce Vouyer by a waterfall, popping up frequently in flashback after she leaves him to try her luck in the wide world (e.g., Las Vegas and L. A.).

Checking the credits after viewing I was left with a particularly obscure mystery: sound man is Alexander Welles aka Sasha, who also worked on Orson Welles crews alongside Graver. He's not identified anywhere as a relative of Orson -what gives?
