Watch out of your own window instead

This is Hynningen, sounds Scandinavian like some Ingmar Bergman movie, but nope, it is actually a 20-minute short film from West Germany directed by Werner Nekes back in 1984, so this one has its 25th anniversary soon and it is already one of Nekes' later career efforts. The man died about 2 years ago. Well, what can I say about this one here. It is filmed from the perspective of somebody in a house in a rather rual area and he there's two windows in said house and he is filming through one of these most of the time so that we see another house and a tree outside. At the same time we hear a fairly psychedelic, slightly creepy tune from start to finish thatg could also be played when alien creatures set foot on Planet Earth. If nothing happens and there are no character studies or anything, then you frequently say it is an experimental movie, especially if the camera stands still from beginning to end. So lets call it that. But I'd also call it really boring and dragging because honestly if I already look outside a house for over 20 minutes, then at least I want to feel the wind and preferrably also the sun in my face. For me, the watch here did nothing and I find it surprising some (and actually not too few) see real cinematic value in this little film. For me it did nothing and even if Nekes was fairly prolific filmmaker, judging from this one here I am not surprised he is not known to many in Germany. It's true that his works and probably this film too, which is among his more known efforts, are not for the masses, but I think that does not say anything negative about the masses. Watch something else instead. Highly not recommended.
