Fab Iron Curtain Academy Award Film
frankycrisp18 July 2006
One of the great films never seen outside the Iron Curtain. Made during the height of the cold war. Winner of the Iron Curtain's equivalent to Academy Award for 1959, I think. Romulus Neacsu carries the film... handsome and dashing... the 'Glen Ford' of Communist Era. Must see Romulus Neacsu on a horse, crossing the Alps, folding sheets, making a sandwich... unbelievable. The actor made several great films regarded as the culmination of Soviet-era heroic epics. I believe this is much better than "Pe raspunderea mea" although that is a great film also. Romulus Neacsu later appeared as a similar character in "Viata nu iarta" (Life Doesn't Spare) later released in Cambodia as "When the Mist Is Lifting" and in England as "When the Shirts are Lifting"
