Revenge Drama

Raj Babbar excelled in his negative roles. Here ,he is the thakur and has set his eyes on pretty Reena Roywho is a well known singer. When ever they meet, she is polite but distant with him despite knowing his intentions . Her father. Om Shivpuri makes some disastrous decisions and they are from riches to rags in a jiffy . She gets married to Mark Zuber without knowing that he is in fact , an opportunist. After spending a few days with her ,he flies to US with his father and lot of cash in tow . The father signs a contract with Raj Babbar which states that his daughter is more or less a prisoner with him . He owns her voice and all her shows and earnings. After knowing this , disheartened , she succumbs to him and his fancies. Her son , grows up in this captivity and finally takes revenge . Over all a nice story. The acting skills of Raj and Reena are of special mention. Marc with his anglicised Hindi is a fine villain in his short role . One of the early movies to come from the Bhatt camp.

The good is the bad and the bad is the good.

I saw this film a long time ago and was very impressed just because it was the first time Shakti Kapoor played a good guy (blind Muslim hero) which is a complete shocker compared to his devil type roles in previous Films. On the other hand the bad guy is Raj Babbar and thats a complete role change as he's a very nasty piece of work. When some one is taken against their will, you just want them to escape and when there is a child involved who cant see his mum, you feel for both the kid and the mum. I'm not impressed by many films in the 80's but this was a unique Bollywood film. So unique, it is only 99mins long, so don't be worried you won't be listening to many if any songs. A very hard film to get hold of so don't expect to find it on DVD any time soon. A nice film, worth watching, if only once.
