Good environmental message, otherwise complete rubbish Warning: Spoilers
This is an almost 15-year old dramatic romance movie from German television. As pretty much all of these it runs for 90 minutes and is entirely predictable. As it's already from 2001, some of the older actors in there have died already. The movie's director was already very experienced back then, but the writers were pretty much rookies. One of them turned into a prolific writer himself, the other never wrote a film again. The lead actress is played by Dr. Maria Furtwängler right before she began acting on "Tatort". And she is as unbearable as always. I don't think she has the slightest ounce of dramatic or comedic talent inside of her. No range at all and she always plays the same characters. Confident women who succeed in their professional lives and also in terms of love, parenting etc. All the men are interested in them and she is always well-dressed. And at the latest at the end of the film, she is basically the perfect woman. It's so cringeworthy and I really cannot believe why she still has a career. And even worse, she is always the central character in everything she is in. Truly pathetic. She was as annoying and untalented as today in this film already, even if it was 15 years ago.

The only other actress I knew from this movie is Valerie Niehaus. She is not as horrible as Furtwängler, but gently-put she is not the greatest talent under the sun either. I see Kohlund who plays the male protagonist has long experience as an actor too, but I don't know him. He was okay in this film, nothing less or more. Anyway, his love story with Furtwängler's character is pretty much as uninteresting as the entire movie and all its pseudo drama about heart attacks etc. Of course her children also like him immediately as always in these movies. You could see that the writers clearly lack experience. Also the film's title is pretty cringeworthy, no idea what they were thinking. The only positive thing about the film is certainly the message on environment and animals, but even there they failed as Furtwängler's character was actually correct about how questionable it is to bring a pinniped to a court-room, but not about her love interest, but about the filmmakers. Really not the greatest idea. I was actually about to give this film 4 stars, but then the movie hit rock-bottom in the final scene when they even included a wedding proposal. Who cares if the protagonists don't even know each other for really long. lets sacrifice the last ounce of realism this film still has for the most gooey, schmaltzy ending possible, so the dumb majority, who don't understand a thing about romance, will be satisfied. Horrible, horrible film.
