Revolutionary Fighting Game
darkdaedra4 January 2003
Bushido Blade had a fresh idea for the fighting game genre that was beginning to get stale. It employed the laws of Bushido into the game. "BUSHI" is Japanese for warrior and is often interchangeable with the word "SAMURAI." "DO" means way. Hence, "BUSHIDO" means way of the warrior. This meant that attacking your opponent while his/her back was turned would result in a loss for you.

The style of game play also was very different from the norm. If you cut someone's arm with your weapon, that arm could no longer be used, and so forth. This game changed the way fighting games were looked at and is a very large part of what many fighting games draw on today.

A thinking persons slash-em- up.

Bushido blade is a game that a lot of fighting game fans detest , mainly because of the games "one hit and your dead " fighting system .You see, once you get hit by your opponent with a deadly wepon in your head or stomach ,your dead (as in real life. ). I think that this is a great touch -it adds a sense of realism to the game and makes you play better in order to avoid your opponents deadly swipes . It also requires you to think and use perfect timing for an attack - just like a real martial art.

There are a few problems with bushido blade , like a slightly awkward control system as well as boring characters and historical innacuracies in the setting that will get in the way of your enjoyment of the game .

But these problems are nothing serious enough to bring down the quality of this solid slice of sword play .
