Tom Hiddleston has another sexy-creepy movie coming out this year with High-Rise, an adaptation of J. G. Ballard's 1975 sci-fi novel by director Ben Wheatley. Yes, we know that it's a story about an ultramodern high-rise that eventually abandons all social order, starring Hiddleston, Sienna Miller, Jeremy Irons, Luke Evans, Elisabeth Moss, and James Purefoy. But there are orgies involving Tom Hiddleston, and who is strong enough to say no to that? "Not I," said the Vulture. Watch the latest trailer above, which basically gives the people what they want: naked Tom Hiddleston. What a sight to behold. The other teasers and trailers are below:...

The show must go on, just without Howard Stern. The shock-jock turned reality judge is leaving America's Got Talent after four years. "I'm going through my own career evaluation right now…In all seriousness, I've told you, I'm just too f--king busy…something's got to give," Stern said on his radio show. "NBC's already asked me what my intentions are for next year, whether or not I'd come back, I kind of have told them I think this is my last season. Not I think, this is my last season." Stern said he's spoken to NBC and it was a hard conversation to have. Without Stern, he said the show will move production to Los Angeles. Robin Quivers pressed...

We're down to the penultimate installment of The Voice season 8 when the remaining four artists will deliver their final decisive performances. Three months and more than 10 performances ago, Koryn Hawthorne, Sawyer Fredericks, Joshua Davis and Meghan Linsey threw their vocal cords into the ring against 44 other artists, daring to dream that they would be performing live in this final round after which one will be crowned The Voice.
From the beginning, it was clear that Sawyer and Meghan had a reasonable shot at making it, but who would have pegged shy, powerful teen Koryn or mellow, folksy Joshua to surpass such phenomenal performers as Kimberly Nichole, Mia Z, Cody Wickline and Sarah Potenza? Not I, my friends. It just goes to show you that endurance and grace under fire are what it takes to get this far. All four of these finalists are gifted with both of those.

Update Tuesday, 7:00 a.m. with more information, below:
Stage, screen and radio actress Billie Whitelaw was perhaps best known to international audiences for her role as Mrs. Baylock in 1976 horror film The Omen, but she had a versatile career at home in the UK where she was a muse to Samuel Beckett and won BAFTAs for her film and television work. Whitelaw died on Sunday at a London nursing home, her son told the BBC. She was 82. Among her many big-screen credits, which stretch back to 1953, are 1967’s Charlie Bubbles with Albert Finney; 1968’s The Twisted Nerve with Hayley Mills; Alfred Hitchcock’s 1972’s Frenzy; The Omen; 1988’s The Dressmaker with Joan Plowright and Pete Postlethwaite; Peter Medak’s classic biopic The Krays in 1990; and more recently, Edgar Wright’s 2007 Hot Fuzz with Simon Pegg.
Whitelaw was born in 1932 and made her radio acting debut at age 11, per the BBC.

America: you demanded a sequel to Paul Blart: Mall Cop, and now you’re getting it. We’re all getting it. It’s been gotten. Wait, you might be thinking, I did not personally demand this sequel! Not I! Too bad, because your brethren did — they had to, really, voting with their movie ticket-buying dollars, enough to make the first film a bonafide hit, pulling in over $183m in worldwide box office returns. The feature even tops BoxOfficeMojo’s list of “bumbling” comedies (also, points to you, BoxOfficeMojo). Someone saw this movie. Was it you? It doesn’t matter, because the damage has been done: we’re getting Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, and now there’s a trailer to prove it. Feast your eyes on it, America, you know you want to: Bumbling? Bumbling? The man got hit by a car! Paul Blart, are you okay? Oh, yes. Yes, you are. In...

Who dat? Who dat? Not I-G-g-y. Iggy Azalea has been in the middle of sex tape allegations after Vivid honcho Steven Hirsch revealed that he had his hands on footage featuring who he claims is the young Hollywood star doing the no-pants dance in front of the camera with an ex-boyfriend. "I believe there would be a huge demand for her sex tape," Hirsch said in a press release. "Iggy has proved that she's an amazing talent...We are conducting our due diligence and if we are satisfied with our review, we will definitely try to make a deal to distribute the tape." Except that's apparently not her in the tape. The Aussie rapper took to Twitter to set the record...

It is one of Beckett's most famous – and most startling – images. But what inspired the half-buried woman in Happy Days? His friend and biographer James Knowlson tracks down the first Winnies
Samuel Beckett was a passionate lover of art and a friend of many painters and sculptors. He loved Dutch and Flemish painting in particular – and art almost certainly inspired some of his most memorable theatrical images. Even his earliest plays, such as Waiting for Godot or Endgame, recall the old masters: the character Lucky in Godot may well remind you of a Brueghel grotesque; Estragon and Vladimir's physical antics echo scenes in Adriaen Brouwer's paintings ("Dear, dear Brouwer", Beckett called him); Hamm in Endgame appears to share genes with some portraits by Rembrandt, staring out at the viewer – Jacob Trip in his armchair, perhaps.
As for Beckett's late miniature works – recently revived by the Royal Court with a tour...

New World Heavy Weight Champion John Cena tells HollywoodLife.com about the process of returning to the WWE after suffering a major injury.
The WWE‘s annual Hell In A Cell Pay-Per-View event was bigger than ever Oct. 27, with Superstar John Cena making his triumphant return to the ring after suffering a debilitating injury Aug. 18. Though his highly anticipated match against Alberto del Rio ended in victory and applause, Cena was definitely the underdog of the night, with even WWE commentators speculating that he had “reemerged too early.”
But much to the delight of the entire Cenation — and to the dismay of del Rio, who craftily targeted Cena’s weaknesses throughout the nail-biting match — Cena emerge victorious, officially securing the title of World Heavyweight Champion.
Cena visited HollywoodLife.com‘s New York City offices earlier this month to give us an update on his condition:

Who would have thought that the story of a man forced to overcome his porn addiction after falling for the girl of his dreams would turn out to be one of the most touching, intelligent and crowd-pleasing films of the year? Not I, that’s for sure. But that’s exactly the case when it comes to Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s stunning directorial debut, Don Jon.
Proving that he’s truly a triple threat, not only does Gordon-Levitt confidently direct the film, but he also provides the brilliant screenplay and turns in one of his best performances yet as the titular Jon, a young man living in New Jersey who is a guido in the truest sense of the word.

Love comics but think there aren’t enough hippy-ish stories about the power of music? Fear not, for Paul Jenkins’ Tomorrowland is here! Dmitri Vegas and Like Mike are DJs and founders of the Tomorrowland music festival held in Belgium but just before this year’s show they’ve both been having weird dreams about volcanoes and weird light. Little do they know that together they are the two most important people in the battle between Creation and Destruction – and both sides have chosen the Tomorrowland music festival as the site of their final battle!
On paper, it must’ve seemed like a good idea – creation vs. destruction, a kind of mainstream-ish comic about abstract concepts about artistry and negativity – but I felt the execution was a bit lacking. Ironically for a comic all about the importance of creation, there’s very little creativity going on in this book, specifically with regards the characters.

Today’s film is the 2000 short Not I. The film stars Julianne Moore, is based on a play by Samuel Beckett, and is directed by Neil Jordan. Jordan rose to prominence helming the 1994 Anne Rice adaptation Interview with the Vampire, going on to write and direct features such as Michael Collins and Breakfast on Pluto, before moving to television as the creator of The Borgias, on which he also wrote and directed. His latest film, Byzantium, on which he takes only directing duties, opens in limited release in American theatres this weekend.

Michael Fassbender will be taking his talents to the world of Shakespeare as ScreenDaily reports that the actor will be teaming up again with Shame producers Iain Canning and Emiler Sherman for an adaptation of Macbeth. Directing will be Justin Kurzel, who made a splash with his debut film Snowtown back in 2011. Tood Louiso and Jacob Koskoff will be penning the script and the project will be shopped around at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival.
Kurzel’s adaptation is hoping to retain the 11th century setting and the original language, an odd choice but one that will be interesting to see how it plays out. In today’s modern society, I can’t see many moviegoers wanting to sit through an adaptation of Macbeth that hasn’t been updated or changed. If they want to see it as is, why not just check out a stage adaptation?

This season, Real Husbands Of Hollywood is the #1 sitcom on cable among adults 18-49; and Second Generation Wayans is the #2 new sitcom on cable among adults 18-49. Who'da thunk it? Not I. More original series hits for Bet; and The Game (which has been the network's crown jewel) hasn't even returned for its new (6th) season yet (March 26). And let's not forget what they have coming up - like Being Mary Jane, with Gabrielle Union, Omari Hardwick, and other names you all know well. But what happened to T.J. Holmes' previously-downsized news/commentary program Don't Sleep though? It hasn't returned since the Christmas/New Year's holiday break. Are we to assume it's dead? The full...

There are cult films and then there are cult films. Some for example would label Taxi Driver or Pulp Fiction as cult films. Not I, my friends, not I. Those of us who exist on the true edge of cinema have access to all sorts of films that mainstream cinema viewers (can you hear the contempt searing through in my writing?) could barely put their fragile little minds around.
Showing a mainstream fan a true cult film is like smacking them upside the head with a sledgehammer. They usually just don’t get it. Heck, I remember one time when I was at uni and I tried to introduce Don’t Look Now to some mainstream friends and the look of sheer confusion on their faces was classic. Imagine if I had shown them a Jorg Buttgereit film? Viewing our cult films with mainstreamers can wreck the viewing experience. My friends,...

Irish director Neil Jordan will be on hand to unveil his film installation version of Samuel Beckett's 'Not I' at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (Imma) on Thursday August 9. The installation is Jordan's interpretation of Beckett's famous 1972 play, which sees an actress deliver a long monologue while only her mouth is visible to the audience. Jordan's interpretation features American actress Julianne Moore (The Kids are Alright), with her mouth featured on six different screens arranged in a circular configuration. The installation, which is 13 minutes long, was shot from multiple angles to create a spatially immersive experience.

In case you missed my article last week or forgot to attend you weekly Trekkie meeting – shame on you! – in response to overwhelming demand, Star Trek: The Next Generation is finally coming to Blu-Ray on the 23rd of July. And to mark this monolithic occasion, the good people at Online Fire, working on behalf of Paramount, staged the Star Trek quiz to end all Star Trek quizzes on board the star ship Enterprise.
All right it was above the pub in Chalk farm called The Enterprise; same difference.
I must start with a confession: I am not a Trekkie. Growing up I did not watch the Next Generation. Apart from enjoying First Contact (that’s the 8th film) I’m not really familiar with the new crew. I love the campiness of the original Star Trek and happily watch it whenever it’s on and really enjoy the relationships of...

halfway through the day, we freeze a movie halfway through
Confession time: I still have not seen Personal Effects, Michelle Pfeiffer's second recent straight-to-dvd mishap, the other being I Could Never Be Your Woman (see previous post). In both films the goddess has a relationship with a much younger man.
55 minutes into the movie, Pfeiffer hits on an unresponsive near
silent Ashton Kutcher. What's wrong with him?
As one of the web's most notorious pfans, you'd think I'd be more of a completist. But I am so scared to watch it. I don't know why. It's not like I've never seen her in a disposable movie before. For all I know it's good (I scanned to the middle... having still not overcome my fear). Aside from this picture, I have only a few gaps in my Pfandom. I haven't seen any of her TV work prior to moving permanently...

The Tony Award Nominations are upon us. As is my inconsistent tradition, I thought I'd share a little bit about a movies you can rent or think about to create an unfulfilling celluloid guilty-by-association approximation of the Broadway experience of the 2008/2009 season before the TONYs roll around on June 7th. Not everyone gets to New York to see the shows. And even if you live here, like me, you don't get to them in your financially challenged years. Tony Winners Cynthia Nixon (who seems to be everywhere lately, right?) and In the Height's man Lin-Manuel Miranda are announcing them live any minute now.

You know how in December about 79 movies emerge at the same time wanting all of your very limited attention during the holidays? Well, yesterday here in Marchland, that happened on a slightly smaller scale only on DVD. I tried to write a post yesterday three or four times about the new DVDs but the sheer volume of interesting stuff defeated me. So here goes nothing everything too much. It's the 70th anniversary of that wooden boy with the world's greatest lie detector right on his face? He probably needs his own post. Those magic twins I was obsessed with as a wee tyke in the original 70's Witch Mountain features deserve a whole post, too now that their movies are reissued. Not just these three sentences. (I'm not sure I'm ready to think about the, uh, reboot.
