A shorter short?
Havan_IronOak23 October 2001
A chicken delivery boy is confused as to his sexuality and further confused by the mixed signals he gets from a repeat customer.

I saw this at the DC Reel Affirmations film festival and it was listed as 38 minutes rather than the slightly longer time listed here. I think they may have cut some of the intro material.

Overall an interesting short but as with most shorts, it leaves you wanting to hear more of the story.

Entertaining short

Warning: Spoilers
If you've rented the shorts compilation Boys Briefs 2, this is the best of the 6 films. Gianpaolo Venuta was outstanding....he did a great job portraying a young man coming to terms with his sexuality and the guilt associated with his discovery. I liked the fact that he did not get together with the repeat customer...rather it was the thoughts about the possibility that led him through his discovery. The use of the speed photography to indicate time passage was a nice touch and allowed you to get a good underlying feel to the overall time period. The really only negative I can add is that the music selected was a poor overall match for the content.

Delightful, original, funny coming-of-age story
JetBoy16 July 2001
The opening sequence alone would make an outstanding short film in its own right. Time speeds up and slows down as we see the customers at a diner, especially the family at one table.

The film is the coming-of-age story of the child in the opening sequence, now a chicken delivery boy (although he hates chicken). Alienated from his father, and with an uneasy relationship with his (not gay-friendly) best friend, he meets a new customer. A lawyer going through a divorce, the customer is also alienated and lonely.

Told with humor and originality, this films breaks out of the restraints of its genre.

Great to see an intelligent gay-themed movie NOT all about sex. Wish there were more LGBT films like this. Great, brooding atmosphere, tension, nuanced performances from some first-rate actors, lots of teen angst intelligently and realistically portrayed.

Subtle, and offering different interpretations, like all the best art. Well done!
