Age Hasn't Slowed These Guys, Either
ccthemovieman-129 January 2007
This was much better than I had expected, not that I didn't expect a decent performance from these guys. I just didn't know exactly what to expect since they were long past their "prime." However, like a number of other '60s groups that are still playing, these guys are still very good. Age doesn't seem to hurt their ability to sing, play instruments and entertain in concert.

Most of the songs were the classics of the group, the ones that made them famous. These gray-haired "old-timers" were very animated and really into the concert, and did a great job with their old songs. The concert had some electricity to it. The crowd appreciated their efforts and made this a fun DVD to watch and hear.

Overall, this is solid music by a classy group, who may look old but can still rock and sing with the best of 'em.

A good concert disk from an excellent band
indy_go_blue448 July 2007
I first started listening to the Moodies with "Go Now" some 40 years ago. I was floored with "Future" and the earlier classic albums. I sort of lost touch after Mike Pinder left; I love his baritone voice and frankly have found some of the later Haywood-Lodge compilations a bit boring after a few listens. Not bad, mind you, they simply sounded too much the same. I watched the concert at Red Rocks last year and was impressed with it. Today I finally sat down with the Albert Hall concert, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There seems to be such a kinship between the band members, a real affection and also a confidence in their own places within the band, ie, no oneupmanship. The music was well played and it was a nice selection of new (their latest releases as of 2000) to very old. Of course they included their classic Nights in White Satin. They seemed to really enjoy themselves and definitely got into their music, especially "Singer in a Rock and Roll Band."

I rate this a 9/10. I would have liked to hear Ray sing more and wish Graham had recited one of his poems like he did on the Red Rocks disk.

Old times still are good
pmrocek20 July 2009
I'm not a Moody Blues fan or ever was, apart from highly regarding the wonderful "Nights in White Satin". So I decided to buy this DVD as it was on offer in a Department Store nearby to get to know them a bit better. And... good thing I did! It's a good concert with good performances in a wonderful venue, where in other times I got to see Eric Clapton live in a memorable night. Although I didn't recognize hardly any of the songs, it caught my attention how well they performed them and how correct they were interacting with the audience. The audience, by the way, were most of the time constrained to their seats, very English indeed! The orchestra was superb, but no information on the DVD cover on who they are or even that they were to appear. Pity the DVD has no extras, like discography, biographies, etc.

A Magnificent Concert
claudio_carvalho12 December 2004
On May 1st, 2000, in Albert Hall, the British band "The Moody Blues" presented a magnificent concert with the World Festival Orchestra, conducted by Larry Baird. The concert was recorded live, having the direction of Andy Harcott and using many cameras and lights distributed in the theater. The edition on DVD is fantastic, and it is one of the best DVDs I have in my collection. The concert presents fourteen successful songs as follows:

1) Overture; 2) Tuesday Afternoon; 3) English Sunset; 4) Words You Say; 5) The Story in Your Eyes; 6) I Know You're Out There Somewhere 7) Haunted; 8) Your Wildest Dreams; 9) Isn't It Strange; 10) I'm Just a Singer (in a Rock and Roll Band); 11) Nights in White Satin; 12) Legend of a Mind; 13) Question; 14) Ride My See-Saw.

My favorite songs are "Nights in White Satin", "Tuesday Afternoon" and "I Know You're Out There Somewhere". My vote is ten.
