Kazuko's Karaoke Club was how British viewers got their first taste of karaoke.
The show was hosted by a pair of Japanese performance artists called The Frank Chickens who were based in England and each week they would interview guests and then perform songs on a karaoke machine, which was a novel spectacle in those days.
Maybe the programme would had done better if it was shown late on Friday and attracted a cult following with the post pub crowd.
The interview portion was always rather awkward mainly because the guests were nervous about the singing part unless they were well tanked up.
