Assemblage artist, experimental film maker Joseph Cornell falls in love with an angel in this brevity that is overlong at under four minutes. Transfixed by a carved stone angel and its surroundings he spends the films running time doing a mating dance about it MOS, lingering like most lovers too long, especially for the objective viewer. A gentle rain fall and final shot almost redeems the moment but Cornell's foot dragging makes it a disappointing wait.

Okay for an experimental work Warning: Spoilers
"Angel" is an American 3.5-minute short film from 1957, so it will have its 60th anniversary next year. The writer and director of this really short work is Joseph Cornell and in here we have more religious references than usually with his works. I think it was fine visually I guess, but for me the lack of sound hurt the film and the completely lack of a story wasn't helping either, even if this is obviously the core of experimental films. Overall, my verdict is a negative one. I do not recommend the watch and I really wish the other aspects could have been on par with what we see. But they weren't and that's why you shouldn't check it out.
