The literal translation of the title of this movie is: Ingeniously fighting the pretty-woman snake

In China, the word "snake" is also used to describe somebody who is fatally vicious, and pretty woman snake is a women with beautiful face but evil heart. This movie is one of the early pioneers in the post revolutionary era Chinese film industry to describe female villain. Another rather unique feature of this film in comparison to other Chinese movies of its time is that the story is not based on the true story in real life, but it is completely fabricated. The significance of this is that this movie represented the transition of Chinese action flicks toward its own independence instead of following the pattern of the Chinese war movies, from which the Chinese action flicks are developed from.
