There is no doubt that everyone saw at least one of Adam Sandler’s comedies, for example, Big Daddy (1999), Click (2006) or Grown Ups (2010). At the same time, the actor’s comedy talent shines even brighter when his movies are added by the romantic aspect, with his romcoms being loved by the audience, but not so recognized by critics.
One of these features is a 2014 romcom, in which he portrayed the widowed father Jim, who goes on an unsuccessful blind date with another single parent, Lauren. They both decide they don’t want to see each other in their lives ever again. And yes, you may have already recognized the plot of Blended here.
However, life plays its typical trick on Jim and Lauren, causing the two families to accidentally meet at the same African safari resort, being put together for a "familymoon". There the two are forced not only to find a common language,...

Drew Barrymore is reflecting back on 20th Century Fox’s initial reaction to Never Been Kissed.
The actress-producer and talk-show host was joined by Hey, Dude…The ’90s Called! hosts Christine Taylor and David Lascher on Friday’s Drew Barrymore Show, where she recalled how the rom-com marked a big milestone for the actress, as it was the first project made under her own production company, Flower Films.
With her venture behind the camera while also being the film’s star, there was a lot of pressure on Barrymore for the film to succeed.
“Never Been Kissed was very interesting because it was our first official film for Flower Films. And at that time, people were very weary of actors being producers,” she explained. “A lot of it wasn’t necessarily working and it didn’t mean because you’re an actor, you knew how to produce a film and it was about the economics.

For someone who came from a generation of actors ranging from her great, great, great, grandparents from both sides of her family including herself, It’ll be strange if Drew Barrymore‘s children wouldn’t wish to toe the same line.
Having started appearing on TV from as young as 11 months old, Drew would later go on to make a name for herself in the acting industry and it’s quite fitting that her children Olive, 11, and Frankie, 10, would want to do the same at about the same age their mom started if given the opportunity.
In an exclusive interview with People, the star of “50 First Dates” told the outlet, “When I first had kids, I remember people asking me like, ‘Well, would you want your kids to go into the business?’ And it always gave me such a sad feeling, as if this business was so toxic, like,...

Drew Barrymore has confirmed from her old pal Adam Sandler that a Happy Gilmore sequel is indeed in th works.
The actress and talk show host broke the news via a preview clip for Friday’s episode of the Drew Barrymore Show. Barrymore initially brought up the subject of a Happy Gilmore sequel to her audience, saying, “I want it. I need it.” She continued, “I stayed up last night with my daughter watching Billy Madison. I sent Sandler a video of that, and then he sent me another video back, and I’m waiting to see if he’s confirming about the Happy Gilmore 2 script.”
She cited Christopher McDonald’s interview from last month, where the actor — who played Shooter McGavin in Happy Gilmore — claimed that Sandler had shown him a draft of the long-awaited sequel. The clip then shifted to later on in the show’s tape,...

Update: It looks like Christopher McDonald was right about Adam Sandler working on the script for Happy Gilmore. Sandler’s fave co-star and longtime pal Drew Barrymore confirmed, in a clip from today’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, that the sequel is indeed happening. “I want it. I need it. And I stayed up last night with my daughter watching Billy Madison,” says Barrymore, adding later, “I’ll just say this, from my source, that it is in process.”
Barrymore famously starred with Sandler in three movies, The Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates and Blended. The two have remained close over the years, with Sandman frequently turning up on her show. While he’s mostly focused on drama recently, including the recent Netflix film Spaceman, Happy Gilmore 2 would likely be warmly received by fans, especially if co-stars Christopher McDonald and Julie Bowen return.

Besides Adam Sandler’s baggy polo and basketball shorts, there’s something else that people find quite fascinating about him, and that is the impressive box office numbers he holds. Truth be told, he is indeed a pioneer of a certain type of comedy in Hollywood.
Consequently, his films have carved out a unique space for themselves despite not being favored by critics. Well now, criticism may come and go, but Sandler’s got his finger on the pulse of his craft. There’s something about Sandler that people might never figure out, but one thing’s for sure, the Sandler magic is real.

If you haven’t taken the leap to bundle Disney+ and Hulu, it might be time. Streaming is only getting more expensive and competitive, and the enticing bundle (which also includes ESPN) might be a version of cable TV, but it’s also just cost efficient. Disney+ and Hulu are so intertwined that their monthly listing updates come in the same email — and as such, we decided to compile them here for you in the same list.
Whether you have Disney+ or Hulu, or both (and the IndieWire staff has weighed on our favorites), each has its benefits. Disney has the family-friendly titles, the Star Wars and Marvel (new episodes of “The Bad Batch” and “X-Men: 97” continue through April), while Hulu is the place to catch FX originals and network episodes. Both streamers have the rights to distribute National Geographic titles, which are well worth exploring along with the rest of the library.

Kate Hudson appeared on “The View” and reflected on the recent 20th anniversary of her iconic romantic comedy “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.” The genre has lost much its box office dominance in the decades since Hudson first linked up with Matthew McConaughey to the tune of $105 million at the domestic box office and $177 million worldwide. For comparison’s sake, the just-released rom-com “Anyone But You,” starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, has earned a decent $38 million and counting worldwide.
“It’s hard to get male movie stars to make rom-coms,” Hudson said about the current state of the genre. “That’s a big part of the equation … is to have that event. If we can get more Marvel guys like … hey, come to do a rom-com! That’s part of the formula, too. That event.”

Back in 1998, Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler charmed the world with their film "The Wedding Singer." Set back in 1985, Barrymore played Julia, a catering waitress who is engaged to a complete jerk named Glenn (Matthew Glave). She meets wedding singer Robbie (Sandler) at the reception hall where they both work, and it's the very definition of a meet-cute. However, Robbie is also engaged to a jerk named Linda (Angela Featherstone), who doesn't appreciate his low-paying job. Of course, Julia and Robbie end up together after he serenades her (with rock star Billy Idol's help) on the flight to her wedding in Las Vegas. Look, this would be a pretty awful situation in the real world, but in a film, it's adorable.
Since then, Barrymore and Sandler have re-teamed for two other romantic comedies: "50 First Dates" in 2004 and "Blended" in 2014. The two actors have been friends for years, as well as co-stars,...

The portrayal of Hawaii onscreen has ranged from war dramas about Pearl Harbor to “The Descendants” and “50 First Dates” to “The White Lotus,” and most recently “Last Goal Wins.” Now, the tropical paradise in the Pacific finds a new lens — and voice — in Christopher Kahunahana’s feature debut “Waikiki.”
While the film fumbles through a stripped down script and stumbles towards a surrealist attempt at reframing the threats of tourism, “Waikiki” still offers a voice from a Native Hawaiian about his homeland. Sundance Lab alum Kahunahana wrote and directed the drama which follows hula dancer Kea (Danielle Zalopany) as her personal life crumbles.
Kea tries to hide the black eye her boyfriend Branden (Jason Quinn) pummeled into her; she tries to plaster a smile onstage while dancing and keeps her spirits up to deflect questions about her injury to curious young students where she teaches. But it’s when...

Adam Sandler is best known for his comedic roles, but if there's one thing he's serious about, it's his wife, Jackie. The couple first met on the set of his 1999 film "Big Daddy" and have pretty much been inseparable since. The Sandlers eventually tied the knot in 2003 and have since welcomed two daughters, Sunny, 14, and Sadie, 17 - both of whom star in Netflix's "You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah" with the couple.
Through the years, Adam and Jackie have given fans some sweet glimpses of their longtime romance. On June 22, Adam celebrated their wedding anniversary on Instagram by posting a photo from their wedding day, writing, "Happy 20th my sweet Jackie! Your 'I do' was the best gift of my life." He continued, "My heart has been yours since the first second I saw you and I love and appreciate your devoted soul more and more each day.

What if you had to track down and have sex with everyone you’ve ever slept with, for the good of your current relationship? That’s the quirky premise of Ann Sirot and Raphaël Balboni’s new comedy, ‘The (Ex)perience of Love,’ the follow-up to their 2020 debut “Une vie démente.”
When we meet them, the couple in question, Sandra (Lucie Debay) and Rémy (Lazare Gousseau), are hoping to have a child, and after having no luck conceiving naturally, they decide to see a doctor. Drew Barrymore may have bested Ghostface.
The star of 1996’s “Scream” teased that despite her iconic cold open kill, her character Casey Becker could still be alive and ready to return to the enduring franchise.
“It’s funny. I’ve never thought of it this way, but I’m pretty sure a C-section is comparable to what happened to her,” Barrymore said during “The Drew Barrymore Show” (via Entertainment Weekly). “Like, literally. And I’m here! I’m fine! So, maybe Casey Becker will be Ok.”
The “50 First Dates” actress teased, “With good writing, you can make anything happen… I’m so glad that this franchise is still such a viable commodity.”
“Scream VI” brought back a presumed-dead character with Hayden Panettiere’s Kirby not only having survived the “Scream 4” stabbing but now thriving as an FBI agent.

When filmmaker Raine Allen-Miller pictured her debut film, she had a few ideas she couldn’t shake. It would be set in her own stomping grounds of South London, and it definitely had to be funny. One thing she didn’t consider? “I can tell you that it wouldn’t have been a rom-com. I never really thought I would direct a rom-com,” the director told IndieWire during a recent interview.
Surprise! With “Rye Lane,” Allen-Miller didn’t just make a rom-com, she made a great rom-com. The film, which debuted at Sundance in January to acclaim, winningly mashes up everything from “Before Sunrise” to “Notting Hill” as it follows the charming Dom (David Jonsson) and the effervescent Yas (Vivian Oparah) as they walk and talk their way through South London after a meet-cute in a public bathroom.

Jennifer Aniston and Drew Barrymore joked about ditching their “goofy” frequent co-star Adam Sandler in favor of starring in a movie together. It was all in good fun, though, as Barrymore said she’s always there for whatever Sandler is “putting out into the world,” and she hopes that might include a project for the three of them to work on. Here’s what they said about it.

Jennifer Aniston and Drew Barrymore seem like the kind of costars you'd want to work with again and again - especially if you're Adam Sandler. The duo showed up to support their costar and longtime friend as he received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor on March 19. The star-studded ceremony - which took place at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall in Washington DC - was also attended by Idina Menzel, Chris Rock, Steve Buscemi, Ben Stiller, Pete Davidson, and Adam's wife, Jackie Sandler.
"As I look at this goofy award I'm holding, I just can't help but think this just may be the weapon used to bludgeon me, by an angry intruder," Sandler joked in his acceptance speech, per The Hollywood Reporter. He then went on to discuss how much he loves making movies with people he loves. "When someone asks me: those bad reviews you get - how does that make you feel?...

Jennifer Aniston has named her favourite Adam Sandler film – and the choice is rather unexpected.
The actor has reunited with the comedian for Murder Mystery 2, a sequel to their comedy that broke streaming records for Netflix in 2019.
Both actors are doing the promotional rounds for the film, which is released later this month.
As part of this, Sandler participated in an interview with The Washington Post, which featured commentary from entertainment figures to have worked with the actor since his rise to fame in the 1990s.
It was for this interview that Aniston selected the Sandler film she thinks is the best.
Recalling being unable to “keep a straight face” when watching the actor, the Friends star said: “Personally, I think You Don’t Mess With the Zohan is one of the funniest movies.”

Live from “Saturday Night”… it might be too “mean” of a sketch.
“SNL” cast member Chloe Fineman revealed that she second-guessed leading a parody of Drew Barrymore’s now-infamous TikTok videos of her dancing in the rain and discovering a window.
“I felt like I was trolling her last summer, because she was just giving these undeniable hits,” Fineman told The Los Angeles Times.
Fineman parodied the video on her social media page, but later worried if the subsequent “SNL” sketch was “mean.”
“I sent it to a bunch of people, like, ‘Is this mean? I love Drew Barrymore. Is this Ok?'” Fineman said. “Because I think she’s like our nation’s gem. I’m team ‘too much.'”

The Beach Boys were one of the biggest musical groups of the 1960s. But that doesn’t mean they completely dominated the entertainment industry. The band provided the theme song for a short-lived ’60s sitcom that few have heard of today.
The Beach Boys’ massive musical success, including dozens of hit songs and best-selling albums
The Beach Boys were formed in 1961 and were composed of brothers Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love, and their friend Al Jardine. Brian was the creative mastermind behind the group’s music, while dad Murry Wilson managed them.
The group dominated the charts in the ’60s with hit singles like “Surfin’ U.S.A,” “Fun, Fun, Fun,” “I Get Around,” “Help Me, Rhonda,” and “California Girls.” The Beach Boys have sold over 100 million records worldwide and still tour today.

I don’t know if anything is more soothing than Owen Wilson smiling while sporting a mighty blonde afro. With light twinkling in his eyes, Wilson stares into the distance, surrounded by happy little trees for IFC Films‘ new Paint poster. It’s moments like this when I’m thankful Wilson is experiencing a resurgence in cinema. Drew Barrymore shared some very exciting news on the Feb. 23 episode of her talk show, "The Drew Barrymore Show," during which she revealed that she and longtime collaborator Adam Sandler are looking to do another movie together.
During the episode, Barrymore talked to her cohost Ross Matthews about how Tom Hanks and Robin Wright - who starred together in "Forrest Gump" - are teaming up for a new film together. Matthews said, "And I love when people we love in movies like reteam for a movie. So, I'm gonna ask you on behalf of everyone, you and Adam Sandler, are we doing another one?"
Barrymore confessed, "We are definitely talking about it. For sure." Matthews called it "breaking news."

IFC has dropped the trailer and art for its upcoming comedy “Paint,” and leading man Owen Wilson goes full-on Bob Ross mode in it.
The film stars Wilson as Carl Nagyl, Vermont’s top TV painter who has everything going for him, from a fanbase to a van and even a perm, until a younger artist takes his spotlight. Nagyl is reminiscent of beloved TV icon Bob Ross, who led PBS’ instructional TV program “The Joy of Painting” from 1983 to 1994. He passed away in 1995 at 52 years old.
Wilson leads the film, having been previously featured in “Zoolander,” “The Royal Tenenbaums,” “Bottle Rocket,” “Loki” and “The French Dispatch.” The actor also has the upcoming film “Haunted Mansion” on his docket with Jamie Lee Curtis, Jared Leto and Winona Ryder.
Joining the Oscar-nominated star, the “Paint” cast includes Michaela Watkins, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ciara Renée, Lusia Strus, Stephen Root and newcomer Lucy Freyer.

Filmmaker Jonah Feingold has always been charmed by the idea of happily ever after. But as a hardened New Yorker, born and raised in Manhattan, he’s not naive enough to believe that’s always the way a love story ends.
In his first film, the modern romantic comedy “Dating and New York,” which follows two commitment-phobic millennials, he let audiences fall for the central couple (played by Jaboukie Young-White and Francesca Reale) for 90 minutes before breaking them up in the final seconds of the story. After the movie, which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in 2021, was released by IFC Films to the world, he recalls getting a few angry emails about the ending.
“I don’t think, in a modern New York dating world, they would end up together,” Feingold, 32, says over coffee at Manhattan’s Marlton Hotel. “I was just trying to be honest.”

Since making his screen acting debut on “The Cosby Show” at age 21, Adam Sandler has built a reputation as a timelessly popular comedic performer with such resume highlights as “Happy Gilmore,” “50 First Dates,” and “Grown Ups,” not to mention his successful five-season stint on “Saturday Night Live.” He has also continually proven his dramatic chops over the past two decades as the star of “Punch-Drunk Love,” “Reign Over Me,” and “Uncut Gems,” the last of which brought him the most positive notices of his career just three years ago. Now, he is in the running for his first Screen Actors Guild Award based on his work in the sports drama film “Hustle.”

Drew Barrymore could return to acting on one condition: that Adam Sandler joins her in whatever project was proposed. This sounds easy enough, considering that the two actors have great chemistry together. The Wedding Singer, Blended, and 50 First Dates were all memorable movies. Blended might not have been as popular, but people still recognize the importance. The fact is that Drew’s hiatus from acting just started in 2021, so she hasn’t stayed away that long. Plus, much of her time has gone to her own show, which explains why she hasn’t appeared on the big screen in a while.

Charlie’s Angels star Drew Barrymore is thinking about getting back in front of the camera to rekindle her acting career, and one project she’d like to explore is Charlie’s Angels 3. Speaking with People, the host of The Drew Barrymore Show said she’s open to acting again because it presents unique challenges not found in her other line of work. Barrymore recently spoke with Mindy Kaling about possibly getting the band back together for another superspy adventure and was excited by the prospect.
“Those are interesting challenges because they have been established. That really is building upon something,” Barrymore said. “There’s so much history there that they don’t feel like [the work of] making films. It’s like, ‘Do you want to spend your life doing that? For many fans, the cast of Peter Jackson’s “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy has come to define the iconic characters of J.R.R. Tolkein’s epic: Ian McKellen as the wise Gandalf the Grey, Orlando Bloom and Viggo Mortensen as the dashing Legolas and Aragorn, and Sean Astin as the loyal, loving Samwise Gamgee. But Samwise could have been played by many different actors who auditioned for the films — among them James Corden, who spoke on the podcast “Happy Sad Confused” about trying out for the role.
Corden was asked about his audition by one of the hosts, and confirmed that it was one of his first tryouts for a Hollywood film while he was starting out as an actor, adding that it was “not good.”
“Every single person in London auditioned for ‘Lord of the Rings.’ Everybody. I auditioned for Samwise. I was doing it! The accent and everything!

Drew Barrymore may be reuniting with Cameron Diaz onscreen.
The daytime talk show host told her longtime friend and co-star Adam Sandler that she has been discussing a “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles” remake with Diaz. And while Barrymore has her sights set on playing the role of an overbearing salesman originated by late star John Candy, the Steve Martin marketing executive character is still up for grabs between Diaz and Sandler.
“Her and I did discuss remaking ‘Planes, Trains, and Automobiles,’ and then I was like, ‘Well you know Adam and I talk about that,'” Barrymore recalled telling Diaz during the “Drew Barrymore Show” via Entertainment Weekly. “Well, I also want to play John Candy.”
“You could do a good Candy,” Sandler responded. “You know who could do Candy the best? [Chris] Farley. He would walk around the office and say lines from ‘Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.'”

Adam Sandler treated a delighted Gotham Awards audience Monday night with a rollicking stand-up session, thanking the org for a Performers Tribute after a long career with two guiding principles, “that people in prison need movies too, and TBS needs content to show between all those basketball games.”
He claimed the speech was written by his two teenage daughters, who were upset he hadn’t prepared one. He said he promised them he would, and he did by delivering it in a goofy Southern accent. “Thank you for givin’ our daddy, Mr. Adam Sandler, this prestigious lifetime, all-time prime time achievement tribute award. It means a lot to him, seeing as most of his awards are shaped like popcorn buckets or fake mini-Oscars that say ‘Father of the Year’, which he sadly purchased himself.”
He said his daughters wanted to come to the ceremony but he refused, telling them: “I...

Holy, happy little trees! Owen Wilson is rocking a fro for his new film, Paint, and we are here for it. IFC Films shared the first official image of Owen Wilson as Vermont’s #1 public television painter, Carl Nargle, for Brit McAdams’ new feature, and Bob Ross fans are screaming.
In Paint, Wilson’s Nargle is convinced he has it all: a signature perm, custom van, and fans hanging on his every stroke. Yup! Nargle is on top of the world until a younger, better artist steals everything (and everyone) Carl loves.
McAdams directs from the 2010 Black List screenplay he wrote, with Michaela Watkins, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ciara Renee (Hawkgirl from CW’s Arrowverse), Lusia Stuss, Stephen Rootand newcomer Lucy Freyer set to star.
