If you had approached me on the street and asked if I was a Jessica Lange fan, I would have answered with an emphatic “duh!” But since you clicked on this link, I'm coming to you through your screen to tell you this informatioin. Having originally met Lange in high school via the actress-heavy ordeal that is American Horror Story, watching her communicate an actual character amidst so much lurid, proudly threadbare plotting was revelatory to witness. Lange served Ryan Murphy’s baroque and sentimental grotesqueries with leonine force. Even as subsequent seasons leaned too heavily on her characters as pillars to be toppled, and it became all too easy to project Lange’s distaste towards her surroundings into her vainglorious Supreme and dissatisfied ringleader, she gives a hell of a good show, finding ways to keep herself amused and visibly gratified (or maybe relieved) to play off her talented co-stars.

It looks as though director Todd Phillips has officially finished Joker: Folie a Deux, with the MPAA officially granting it an R-rating for “some strong violence, language throughout, some sexuality, and brief full nudity.” On the latter, it looks like Joker is about to show us the full monty, doesn’t it? At any rate, the R-rating isn’t a surprise, as that’s what the first film got, and I imagine a PG-13 sequel would have landed with a thud, as fans expect this to be as hardcore and uncompromising as the original.
Here’s the poster:
But, what else do we know about Joker: Folie a Deux? Plenty!
First Images:
Ever since the movie started shooting in December 2022, Phillips has been generous as far as images teasing the look of his Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck and Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn go. Here’s a moody early pic...

When Warner Bros. and Legendary released Godzilla vs. Kong in 2021, the folks at The Asylum quickly put together a mockbuster called Ape vs. Monster, which featured a giant chimpanzee battling a giant Gila monster (after both creatures were enlarged by consuming a mysterious substance leaking from a space capsule). A sequel called Ape vs. Mecha Ape followed in 2023. Now the Godzilla vs. Kong sequel Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is in theatres, and The Asylum will be giving their mockbuster Ape x Mecha Ape: New World Order a digital and theatrical release this Friday, April 5th. The movie ‘Joker’ (2019) was initially planned as a standalone film with no sequels. However, Warner Bros. decided to use it to launch DC Black, a series of darker, more experimental films separate from the DC Extended Universe. Director Todd Phillips, despite the original plan, expressed interest in making a sequel. In November 2019, the sequel was confirmed to be in development. In 2023, it was revealed by Gunn that ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ would not be part of the main Dcu but would be released under the ‘Elseworlds’ label, similar to Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’ franchise.
Early in development, it was announced that ‘Joker 2’ would be a musical, which sparked mixed reactions among fans. Recently, it was revealed that the movie will include around 15 covers of well-known songs, including ‘That’s Entertainment’ from the 1953 musical ‘The Band Wagon.’ Hildur Guðnadóttir, the Oscar-winning composer of the first ‘Joker’ film, is rumored to be...

If you’ve been wondering when Black Summer is going to return for a third season… well, it looks like it’s not going to, because the folks at What’s on Netflix have confirmed that Netflix quietly “ghost cancelled” the show. Do you really, do you really wanna taste it? Yes, we do! But where will that taste — that is, season two of Peacemaker — land in the DC Universe timeline? That was one of the biggest questions when it was announced that the Dcu would be replacing the Dceu. But James Gunn has stepped in to clear up any confusion…even if it still might be a little unclear just how it will all eventually come together.
James Gunn took to Threads — as he has grown quite fond of — to address where season two of Peacemaker sits in the evolving DC Universe, writing that it “will take place after the events in Superman.” It’s absolutely also worth noting that Gunn said that season one — which was released in 2022 and so part of the Dceu — is not canon in the Dcu. Got it? Good, moving on!

Margot Robbie could’ve starred in American Horror Story: Asylum as she auditioned for a role in the horror anthology series.
Casting director Eric Dawson opened up about seeing Robbie in action during a test for the second season of the FX series back in 2012.
“Margot has a lot of ‘it’ factors. That’s the tough thing for casting directors who aren’t in the room [anymore] with actors,” Dawson said in an interview with In the Envelope: The Actor’s Podcast.
Dawson continued, “Margot is probably one of my favorite auditions of all time, and it was right before she broke out. She was such a star. It was crazy, her star appeal when she walked in the room.”
AHS: Asylum aired for 13 episodes in 2012 and although Robbie didn’t get the part in the series, she would go on to star in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street.

Margot Robbie came very close to landing a role in “American Horror Story” season 2 over 10 years ago.
The Australian actress, 33, auditioned back in 2012 for “Asylum” – which saw Adam Levine and Jenna Dewan make cameos in the premiere – but ultimately never landed a part in the anthology series. In a new interview with Backstage magazine’s “In the Envelope: The Actor’s Podcast”, the show’s casting director, Eric Dawson – who always knew Robbie was “a star” – looked back on her bittersweet audition.
“Margot is probably one of my favourite auditions of all time,” Dawson admitted, noting that it took place “right before she broke out” in 2013’s “The Wolf of Wall Street”.

Before she was Barbie, Margot Robbie almost had a role in another culturally iconic project: American Horror Story: Asylum.
In the most recent episode of Backstage’s podcast In the Envelope, casting director Eric Dawson opened up about how Robbie was almost cast in the second season of Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story.
“Margot is probably one of my favorite auditions of all time, and it was right before she broke out,” Dawson said. “She was just such a star. It was just crazy, her star appeal and when she walked in the room and her voice. Everything about it.”
Despite not getting the role on the hit anthology series, the Emmy-nominated casting director knew that she would become a major actress one day.
“That was one of those things as a casting director you go, ‘This is a star. What do we do with her?'” he recalled.

Over the course of its first 11 seasons, American Horror Story has explored all things born from nightmares — murder houses, vengeful witch covens, clown-filled freak shows, and more. But in the teaser for its upcoming season, American Horror Story: Delicate, creators Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy zoom in on a more complex topic: pregnancy.
The preview of the season, which premieres Sept. 20 on FX, is both sterile and transformative. Kim Kardashian stars as a new mother whose anatomy seems to be crossed with that of a mutated spider. It isn’t...

While the newly released “American Horror Story: Delicate” teaser focuses mostly on Emma Roberts, Cara Delevingne and Kim Kardashian, eagle-eyed viewers also get their first look at Matt Czuchry at the 12-second mark. Way back in April, Czuchry was the first cast member announced as appearing in this 12th installment of FX’s horror anthology series, per our sister site The Hollywood Reporter. The TV vet from “The Good Wife” and “Gilmore Girls” was cast on “AHS” following the cancelation of “The Resident,” as both shows are produced by Disney’s 20th Television.
Set to the children’s tune “Rock-a-Bye Baby,” the fresh teaser is chock-full of maternal imagery, including pregnant women, in vitro fertilization and eggs full of spiders. It appears as though Czuchry is kissing Roberts on the forehead as she lies on a doctor’s table, with her crimson lips matching the color of the blood. The...

Directed by Gary Barth, and written by Tom Malloy and David Josh Lawrence, the film – a sequel to Trauma Therapy (2019) – sees Malloy return as Tobin Vance, a notorious self-help guru who has been exiled overseas. As the feds move in on his US operation,
Vance is building a new base in the remote outskirts of Kirkcaldy, Scotland. There, his stoic assistant Elizabeth (Hannah New), along with former student John (David Josh Lawrence), recruit a hopeful new group of lost souls for an intensive retreat to solve their deep-seated problems.
The film also features Pirates of the Caribbean’s Vince Lozano, Jamie Scott Gordon, Gordon Holliday, and Megan Tremethick. Sizemore appears as himself, the host of a Larry King-like TV talk show.

After decades in the shadows, the legendary Amicus Productions is set for a grand revival thanks to the team at Hex Studios. Their upcoming film, ‘In the Grip of Terror’, seeks to honor the classic studio’s legacy while forging a new chapter in British horror.

Lovecraft, Ambrose Bierce, and E.F Benson. With a central theme of medical macabre, the film promises to be a chilling experience. While the full cast list is under wraps, it will feature UK horror stalwarts like Laurence R. Harvey (Human Centipede II) and emerging stars Megan Tremethick (Ghost Crew) Jonathan Hansler (The Devil’s Machine) and Michael Daviot (Revenge of Innsmouth).

A few months ago, while covering Hex Studios’ fantasy film throwback The Slave and the Sorcerer, we also mentioned that Hex was also working to “build a new British horror and fantasy studio that’s inspired by the likes of Cannon, Hammer, and Aip”. There’s something inherently unsettling about inanimate objects that move on their own accord. Especially if they happen to resemble people. Which is what makes dolls so perfect for the horror genre; the uncanny valley of it all heightens the fear response in audiences.
This week’s streaming picks belong to the killer doll subgenre. These pint-sized homicidal maniacs deliver plenty of scares, heart, humor, and occasionally a great fashion sense.
As always, here’s where you can stream them this week.

This Amicus Production feature sets its wraparound in an asylum, where a doctor arrives for a job interview. His interviewer subjects him to an unorthodox interview process, which entails four tales of terror. The final segment before the epilogue, “Mannikins of Horror,” introduces a mad scientist type in Dr.

Those mockbuster makers at The Asylum are at it again. When the first live-action Transformers movie was released back in 2007, The Asylum got in on the giant robot action by releasing a movie called Transmorphers. The Transformers sequel Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen followed in 2009 – so The Asylum responded with the Transmorphers prequel Transmorphers: Fall of Man. Since then, the Transformers franchise has continued to grow. There was Transformers: Dark of the Moon in 2011, Transformers: Age of Extinction in 2014, Transformers: The Last Knight in 2017, and the spin-off prequel Bumblebee in 2018. Another prequel, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, is in theatres right now. And while The Asylum has let several Transformers movies come and go without meeting them with a Transmorphers mockbuster, this year they’re finally reviving the franchise with Transmorphers: Mech Beasts! He’s baaack! Zachary Quinto appeared in the first two “American Horror Story” installments as gay homeowner Chad Warwick (Season 1’s “Murder House”) and as fan-fave serial killer Bloody Face (Season 2’s “Asylum”), but then he took a nine-year hiatus before popping up last year as erotic art curator Sam (Season 11’s “NYC”). Well, “AHS” viewers won’t have to wait another nine years to see Quinto again, as he’ll return to the franchise in Season 12’s “Delicate” in a mysterious role, which brings his tally to four total characters.
Quinto confirmed the news at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of his movie “He Went That Way.” Speaking about new “AHS” cast member Kim Kardashian, the bearded actor told reporters, “I did a cameo on this season of ‘American Horror Story’ and I got to meet her. She was so lovely and warm and, really, I don’t think she needs my advice.

The tagline for The Asylum’s latest film Monster Armageddon reads “Welcome to the Multiverse”. But the film actually has less in common with Marvel or DC’s concept of shared universes than it does with Toho’s monster mashes like Destroy All Monsters and Godzilla Final Wars.
As the film opens an unidentified object heading toward Earth takes out the Iss. At the same time a US Navy ship under the command of Ltc Madoyln Webb is attacked and sunk by a giant, one might even say mega, piranha. Could there be a connection? Of course, there is.
Dr. Quinn Ramsey head of NASA’s Mission Control is meeting with her father Tom only to have to quickly leave...

It was bound to happen. Netflix started making and showing original movies, then Amazon, and then Tubi followed suit with Swim. But as Tubi is not a thing here in the UK (thanks Gdpr) we’ve instead had to wait almost two years for the film to hit Blighty. However, don’t get too excited. Given their budget and “free with commercials” format of its source, this isn’t The Irishman or The Tomorrow War. This shark in the house film was made by The Asylum and their frequent director Jared Cohn from a script by Anthony C. Ferrante… so don’t expect Jaws either!
The Samson family Lacey, her father Noah, and kids Charlotte (Brett Hargrave; Weedjies: Halloweed Night) and Tucker (Daniel Grogan) are renting a beach house.
