Elvis has left the building. Cmt has cancelled its Still the King TV show after two seasons. The sitcom, starring Billy Ray Cyrus, first premiered on the country music cable network in June of 2016. Now, episode 2.13, "Who's Your Daddy," will serve as the Still the King TV series finale. An original Cmt comedy, Still the King centers on Cyrus as Vernon Brownmule. The cast also includes Joey Lauren Adams, Madison Iseman, Jon Sewell, Travis Nicholson, Leslie David Baker, Kevin Farley, and Justin Dray. Austin Swift, Arden Myrin, and Natalie Dreyfuss recur in the second and final season. It follows “Burnin’ Vernon” -- a scandal-ridden, washed-up, one-hit-wonder who has been eking out a living as an Elvis Presley impersonator. Now out of jail, he wants to reclaim his music career, while still being a good dad to Charlotte (Iseman). Since he...

From music to movies, fashion to food, Elvis Presley’s influence on culture has been pored over in exhaustive detail since he emerged as an entertainment titan more than six decades ago. Even his fit-for-a-king exit line, uttered by many a concert promoter, has become absorbed into the popular lexicon: “Elvis has left the building!” Summing up his status as more than a man but a force of nature, the colloquialism has taken on a life of its own in the 40 years since Presley left the building for good. Remarkably, the origin of the popular catchphrase can be traced back...

A documentary as sprawling and brilliant and flawed as the country it traverses, Eugene Jarecki’s “The Promised Land” is a fascinatingly overstuffed portrait of America in decline. In the process, it’s also: a biography of the 20th century’s most famous musician,; a story about how a man became king of a democratic nation; a nuanced analysis of cultural appropriation in a multi-racial society; a southern-fried rock n’ roll performance piece; a horrifyingly sober look at the rise of Donald Trump; a closed-casket funeral service for The American Dream; the best recent film about how the hell we got here; and more. So much more.
It’s the latest project from a filmmaker who has always been obsessed with the forces that fuel America (watch 2005’s “Why We Fight” for a perpetually relevant dissection of the military-industrial complex) and who always returns to the same one: Money.

Well, Supernatural Season 12 Episode 6 was a far more interesting hour than Supernatural Season 12 Episode 5.
It did sneak in a joke about Dean killing Hitler, which was fine, but I was glad that it was used in such a minimal fashion.
Instead, “Celebrating the Life of Asa Fox” felt much more in line with older Supernatural, hitting on some personal moments and dealing with a demon that was more than just a stammering suit-wearing follower to Crowley.
View Slideshow: Supernatural Photos from "Celebrating the Life of Asa Fox"
If anything, it was pretty great seeing more hunters. Sure, Sam and Dean are the stuff of legends, but they aren’t the only ones fighting the good fight. And when the Winchesters are dealing with big bads like Lucifer or the Darkness, there are plenty of others taking down wendigos and ghouls.
Remember when demons were big bads in of themselves? It...

"The Identical" was the only new wide release movie opening this weekend, so, in the absence of competition, why didn't it do better?
The faith-based film, which follows such recent Christian-marketed hits as "Son of God," "God's Not Dead," and "Heaven Is for Real," opened on 1,956 screens and featured such brand-name actors as Ray Liotta, Ashley Judd, and Seth Green. It featured a provocative premise, loosely inspired by the real-life fact that Elvis Presley had a stillborn twin brother: What if that boy had lived? And its marketplace competition consisted entirely of movies that have been out for a week or more already.
Yet "The Identical" didn't even open in the top 10. Debuting in 11th place, it earned an estimated $1.9 million (well below the $5 million that some pundits had predicted), for a weak per-screen average of just $977. Which means about eight people on average attended each screening. ("Guardians of the Galaxy,...

The trial to determine whether Shelly Sterling had the authority to sell the Los Angeles Clippers began in a state court after it was reviewed and remanded by a federal court. Proceedings were delayed Monday morning as attorneys for both Shelly and husband Donald Sterling waited for judge George H. Wu to decide if the federal court would hear the case. "These proceedings have to stop at this point so the federal court can make its judgment," Donald Sterling's lawyer Bobby Samini said on Monday morning. Photos Slam Dunk! All shook up? Ready to retrace the steps of your favorite hunka hunka burnin' love? Elvis Presley was born on January 8, 1935, which means he would've turned 77 this year, not really that old at all. He was the King of Rock & Roll, the Godfather of Graceland and an icon whose legend will live on forever. Here are a handful of places where you would have seen Elvis Presley in Los Angeles back in the day … and a few where you can honor his memory today. (Yes, at least one of them involves a peanut butter, banana and bacon sandwich.)

This gorgeous and iconic hotel might be cited ad nauseum as the "Pretty Woman" hotel, but long before the hooker fairy tale put this place on the movie map, the King called it home when he was busy making movies at Paramount Studios. Years later, John Lennon...

Elvis was the King, but on "Toddlers & Tiaras," (Wed., 10 p.m. Et on TLC) he helped crown a Queen. AnnaBella may be too young to have any real understanding of Elvis's impact on music, but she clearly spent enough time studying his moves to excite the pageant crowd with her "Elvis Doll" routine.
She even was ready with the classic sign-off, "Elvis has left the building," to close out her performance.
Backstage, she certainly seemed confident it would lead her to victory. "Thank you. Thank you very much," she said, holding a classic Elvis pointing pose. "Elvis is getting ready for crowning." And that's exactly what happened: AnnaBella won took home the Ultimate Grand Supreme title.
If AnnaBella keeps that charisma, she might be able to follow in the footsteps of Eden Wood. At six years old, former pageant queen Wood is reportedly involved with a new reality show on Logo.

The man is a familiar presence on the good ship BBC, chairing and appearing on numerous panel shows as well as taking the stage at the Apollo and heading up his own prime time show looking at the eccentricities of the British people, and yet John Bishop’s overnight success took the best part of a decade.
That he has arrived now and thrust himself casually and cheekily into the heart of the nation is testament to his easy-going manner, observational humour and the glint in his eye that, even on stage in front of hundreds of people, he can’t quiet believe that he’s achieved the success he has. The roots of his comedy can be traced back to the working mens clubs but his stage persona and the self deprecating tone of his comedy make it easy for audiences to laugh along, rather than at, the targets...

Some people felt like suing. Others felt like crafting. Either way, "Drive" is clearly a total stitch (get it?). The polarizing Ryan Gosling movie inspired some fans to crochet Driver. Seriously. See more pics at The Pictorial Gosling.
Yikes! Thanks to Spike's upcoming Scream Awards, we now know not to mess with Chloe Grace Moretz ... or her plus one, for that matter.
You aced freshman English -- now see if those rockin' writing skills can help you hang with Kal Penn, star of the upcoming "Harold & Kumar Christmas 3D." Unleash your cleverest rhetoric and persuade mtvU of your unsurpassable fandom, and you could make the grade to interview — in person — the hilarious star.
Something tells us you want to hear all about John C. Reilly and his "Dungeons & Dragons" past. Don't worry -- we're not judging,...

Randy heads to N’awlins with The King, King Creole.
Even some hardcore Elvis Presley fans find his movies a bit tedious to watch. He’s singing, he’s fighting, he’s singing, he’s kissing, he’s singing while fighting… that’s pretty much the script rundown for a lot of his films.
I hear that “Clambake” was E’s personal favorite of all his movies, but he liked the character of Danny Fisher in “King Creole” the best. The critics also seem to favor the two-fisted, hard-headed, dropout, nightclub singer of the 1958 classic.
While trying to choose a wine for “King Creole,” my mind immediately played the Wwed card – What Would Elvis Drink?
The King may be more closely associated with stuff a little harder than alcohol. He didn’t seem to be much of a social drinker, but he didn’t really seem very social anyway. I...

Elvis Presley's birthday was last weekend, and had the legendary rock and roller not tragically passed away back in 1977, he would have turned 76 years old on Saturday (January 8th). Presley's influence and importance still looms large, as traces of his music can be found on modern rock, country, pop and even hip-hop.
But it isn't just about the music. Sure, Presley is responsible for some incredible songs that represent the cornerstones of rock music (including gems like "Jailhouse Rock," "Blue Suede Shoes," "Hound Dog," "Heartbreak Hotel" and countless others), but his draw is also about style, attitude and mystique. He left behind a legacy of envelope-pushing fashion, sexual politics and the kind of swagger that many artists have attempted to replicate but few have really gotten right.
So it's not entirely surprising that on this day in 2005, a report showed that Elvis Presley has had more songs written about...

The concept of this series is such: I choose a movie. We all choose our favorite shot(s) from said movie. I link up to everyone's choices each Wednesday. It's an eye candy free for all celebrating those single images in movies that we just can't live without. They're either the prettiest, the most telling, personally resonant, quite unexpected or just plain delightful.
Today's episode: Paul Verhoeven's gaudy masterwork Showgirls (1995). It's loud. It's trashy. It's colorful. It's spectacularly itself. Something all movies should strive to be. So, very briefly, I considered this shot from the opening sequence.
Because the "Huge" graphic makes me giggle. It can't have been an accident that that's the word that flashes in neon just as Nomi Malone (Elizabeth Berkley) pulls into Las Vegas. "I'm gonna win."
I almost went with anything from Nomi's first performance like these.
