Err on the side of caution and avoid this movie!
mtrpi10 July 2005
I remembered the title while I was searching for something else. Believe me the only thing in this steaming pile of crap that was memorable is the title. The fact that I remember it at all is a testament to how disappointed I was with the film 8 years ago! The production value is great, kudos to the crew for putting up with the obvious narcissism of the writer/director/star/....? I don't know the "genius" personally, but since I had to develop a serious crack habit just to stay awake during the premiere, which I was SOOO LUCKY to attend, I think I have a right to my opinion. Since I won't be getting that 2 hours back anytime soon, I figured I might as well waste another 2 minutes to write this. To sum up my comments, I will say that I would rather slam a hammer into my genitals for 2 hours than watch this film!!!! Alberto Gonzalez might want to use the film on the detainees, believe me, they'll say whatever you want, Al. So PLEASE IF you can find this film on video, and I doubt it, "Err on the side of Caution," RUN!!!!!!

Very Impressive Debut

I was recently given a copy of this film and I was really impressed with what I saw. Given the fact that these days EVERYONE wants to be in the film industry, so they whip up a cream puff independent film to get noticed, Err on the Side of Caution is a complex and well written script. I thought the lead actress, Valerie Mikita, was overacting through most of her scenes. However, the main characters were exceptional throughout the film. I also enjoyed the use of flashbacks (the kids in the pool hall and at the river). If this is truly Kirk Myer's first film, he should keep his foot on the gas and make another one before he loses his edge. Excellent work. 4 out of 5 stars.

Just my humble opinion

Yes, yes, yes. I remember this movie - unfortunately. I think the lead guy, who was also the director, should have saved his money, and instead - hooked up a video camera in his basement, pointed it at himself, and let it record for 2 hours. Talk about melo-dramatic! Although extremely well made, with talented co-stars, this film seemed to last for days. The few high points came near the middle of the movie, where Connery Hoffman and Valerie Mikita take the reigns, and kick up the speed of this old horse. Their performances thoroughly make up for that of Kirk Meyers. Just my humble opinion.
