Anarchy and anti-authorized Education!
Poukram19 October 2005
I loved this program when I was a child. The "Rappelkiste" was produced by a so called "Post 68" generation and it was the direct opposite to "Sesamestreet" from the USA. In "Rappelkiste" there had been themes that have never been show in any other children's program: they talked about poor people, how to get the next meal, they figured out how different German and foreigner are in their way of live but how they can fit together. Question about sexuality has been discussed even like political question concerning children. The two main Characters "Ratz" and "Rübe" has been the highlight of each transmission. Both have been very anarchistic and shows the children how to live their lives with and without the education of their parents. Unfortunately the show stops in the 1980s and the following shows like "Neues aus Uhlenbusch" or "Nirgendwo" returned to the scheme "Cute children, listen to your parents"!
