Those interested in gold bricks will find this play highly instructive

There is no incentive to crime in this picture, although it reveals the astonishing fact that gold bricks may be had when needed at jewelry stores in country towns. Three newspaper men attempt to sell a gold brick really worth $737 for $2.50, but, like the Englishman who tried to sell sovereigns for shillings on a wager, they are unable to dispose of real value because of human incredulity. One of their number plays a trick on his associates. He takes the brick of real gold from his case, goes into a small jewelry store and buys one of those brass bricks that it seems jewelers keep for sale, and substitutes it for the genuine article. His companions are nearly put in jail on this account, but they finally escape and are driven out of town. Those interested in gold bricks will find this play highly instructive. - The Moving Picture World, July 5, 1913
