Plumbing the depths of shallowness
planktonrules30 December 2008
Warning: Spoilers
This is an interesting short film. It consists of two guys dressed up like angels and one of them is lecturing a mortal. You assume the human can hear them subconsciously, though as you watch the angel talk and talk, the person is involved with stuff--fiddling with his electronics, getting ready to snort some coke etc., which is ironic because the angel is trying to get him to understand that there's more to life. Yet, this guy just keeps fiddling around and in the end, you are left with a rather cynical view about the shallowness of humanity or at least this little jerk!

The film has a unique style--not bad, but it really begs you to pay attention. I was inclined to perhaps give the film a score of 8, but at only about 3 minutes long, it's hard to give such a high score. Still, it's clever and has a lot to say.

I've never been into short films but with IMDb sharing all these great little flicks I had to try some out. After watching half a dozen or so, this is the first one that I have been drawn to comment on.

The Select Fit is worth watching. The film was shot really well. It's edgy and the color and sound are vivid.

There is a lot to think about and I think that it could mean a hundred different things to a hundred different people. To me though, as a Christian, it was an accurate depiction of how we justify the things we do and don't do by playing(or messing around) with our innate knowledge of right and wrong or what we KNOW the Lord's will is for us. (aside- note the shirt the quiet angel is wearing)
