Ready for a Take-Off (1954)

* 1/2 (out of 4)

This here is one of six shorts including on the DVD release of Hollywood BURLESQUE/PEEK-A-BOO from Something Weird Video. The burlesque genre is certainly one that people are going to love or hate. For me, I tend to lean more towards the hate aspect but there's no question that these films have an interesting history and those seeking out at-one-time-dirty entertainment might find them of interest.

Brandy Jones, Genii Young and Dimples Morgan (a fake name?) are the three ladies who come up in the final short on this release. Running at 9-minutes, I'd say that's about 7-minutes too long. Things get off to a very bad start with Jones coming out and doing a dance in slow motion, which is pretty much torture to sit through. The dance itself is bad enough but someone decided to do a cruel joke and make it in slow motion? Not very nice. The second dance is too bland but the third one is slightly entertaining. That's not much of a recommendation so this here is clearly for fans of the genre only.

Ready for a Take-Off was the most underwhelming of the burlesque shorts I've watched on a DVD full of them

This is the last of the burlesque shorts on a DVD full of them. It also has the most underwhelming of the strippers on it. I mean, it was figuratively torture watching this one. So since I know I have to have at least 10 lines for this review to be submitted on this site, it's gonna be tough to fill this one up but I'll try. So I have 5 lines to go. Nope, I can't think of anything else to say since I really found myself bored just watching this one. Oh, how about once again the women take their bras off only to reveal pasties on their boobs. Like I said, this was a really underwhelming short to watch. I really, really, really wasn't entertained watching this. So on that note, Ready for a Take-Off isn't recommended.
