The Golden Globes has long held a reputation as the loosey-goosey younger sibling of the Academy Awards. Maybe it’s because it’s the start of awards show season, and stars aren’t yet tired of the red carpet grind. Or maybe it’s just become a self-fulfilling prophecy of the show that celebrities are going to get a little silly, but for whatever reason, the Globes annually seem to give us more double-take moments than most Hollywood spectacles. Let’s look at some of our favorites.

Lukewarm off the presses! Herewith a collection of very brief thoughts on this, that, and the other things that we haven't had time to comment on but definitely wanted to note. Please to discuss in the comments.
• By now you've seen Entertainment Weekly's gallery of Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange. The film arrives in 311 days which means most movie blogs have about 622 more articles left to write about it in "anticipation" Blaraargggh! How to reverse the equation and get people to write the bulk of their thoughts on movies After seeing them? Even Marvel's Sorcerer Supreme probably can't cast a spell that powerful. I have three things to say about these photos. 1) I still find Cumberbatch's casting weird because his face is so non angular / eyeberowless both of which are complete opposites of traditional depictions of the sorcerer 2) can't anyone ever find a way to represent magic that isn't shapeless CGI color beams.

From big blockbusters to small independent films, here are the movies I.m dying to see this Fall. (Official synopsis provided by studios)
September 18 (Friday)
About Ray When a young woman (Elle Fanning) decides to transition from female to male, her announcement is met with both opposition and support from her mother (Naomi Watts) and her lesbian grandmother (Susan Sarandon).
Black Mass In 1970s South Boston, FBI Agent John Connolly (Joel Edgerton) persuades Irish mobster James "Whitey" Bulger (Johnny Depp) to collaborate with the FBI and eliminate a common enemy: the Italian mob. The drama tells the story of this unholy alliance, which spiraled out of control, allowing Whitey to evade law enforcement, consolidate power, and become one of the most ruthless and powerful gangsters in Boston history. -- (C) Warner Bros

"You think I'll sit back and do nothing as you try to eat me like a juicy grasshopper?" shouts Richard, the thuggish head of the Ugandan crime syndicate, the Tiger Mafia.
This unraveling gent has been raving ever since his brother was captured that afternoon by Captain Alex and his commandos. That Richard discovers his wife was spared provides no solace to him. In fact, just the opposite. Richard yells at her, "I don't need you. I have dozens of wives. I only have one brother." Then he bellows to his second-in-command, "Instead of my brother, you saved this bitch." He then shoots his spouse. (This isn't as sexist as it sounds since Richard tends to shoot everyone whether friend or foe.)
Sadly, this drug-dealing villain is not the only one on the set who's psychotically unsettled. There's the hired gun who notes, "I'm a mercenary from Russia. I came here to kill.

Alyssa Milano admits she was nervous when hosting Project Runway All Stars for the first time last season—but all that's behind her now. In season 4, which premieres Thursday, Oct. 30, she settles comfortably into her hosting and judging role—she even "gets into it" with fellow judge Isaac Mizrahi over a critique—even though she was eight months pregnant while filming the show. Here, Milano tells EW what it was like to tape the series (in heels no less), who her favorite guest judge was, and what to expect from this season... the best to date, according to Milano. EW:...

Paramount Pictures has reportedly emerged as frontrunner to acquire the Chris Rock-directed "Top Five". The film, which just premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, sparked a furious bidding war with the worldwide rights tipped to go for a whopping $12.5 million. Rock, Rosario Dawson, Smoove, Gabrielle Union, Tracy Morgan, Cedric The Entertainer, Kevin Hart, Jerry Seinfeld, Adam Sandler, Whoopi Goldberg and Jay Pharoah star in the film about a former stand up comedian turned film star about to be hit by a major change in his life. [Source: Deadline]

Inside Llewyn Davis | August: Osage County | Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit | Teenage | Fonzy | Grudge Match | The General | Dark Days | Jai Ho
Inside Llewyn Davis (15)
(Joel & Ethan Coen, 2013, Us) Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Justin Timberlake, Adam Driver, Garret Hedlund, John Goodman. 105 mins
Bob Dylan hadn't written Like A Rolling Stone when this is set (New York, 1961), but Isaac's eponymous hero could almost be the inspiration. He's the archetypal drifter: a complete unknown with no direction home and little prospect of realising his folk-star dream, despite, or perhaps because of, his artistic integrity. The Coens let us know exactly how it feels. This is their most mature drama to date: subdued, sincere, bleakly funny, and as finely crafted as we've come to expect.
August: Osage County (15)
(John Wells, 2013, Us) Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts. 121 mins
Heavy acting artillery is positioned for a full-on awards assault, with Streep's malign matriarch marshalling her fractured family for some mourning and bloodletting.

A familiar face returns as the designers are challenged with another competition that features many twists and turns — but who will be in and who will be out?
Host Alyssa Milano introduces a familiar face to the designers: Nina Garcia of Marie Claire and Project Runway judge! Having recently become a part of editorial platform HallofStyle.com, Nina asks the contestants to pair up with a blogger featured on the website to showcase a trend for 2014. Several twists make up this challenge; not only will the bloggers be the designers’ models, but in the look they must incorporate Pantone’s color for 2014, radiant orchid. The winning look will be endorsed by Nina in a video that will appear on Hall of Style’s home page that will be viewed by the websites some fifty million subscribers. The winner will also receive a prize package from Pantone worth over $10,000! Not too shabby.

Oscar Isaac ("The Bourne Legacy," "Drive") and Jason Clarke ("Zero Dark Thirty," "Lawless") are set for the lead roles in William Monahan's thriller "Mojave," from the director's original screenplay. Monahan is best known for his Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar win for Martin Scorsese's "The Departed." Monahan will be collaborating with Scorsese again, having recently finished the script for "The Gambler" at Paramount. Also in the pipeline is the screenplay for Robert Rodriguez's "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For." "Mojave" is Monahan's second directorial gig, following 2010's under-the-radar Keira Knightley-Colin Farrell thriller "London Boulevard." Both Isaac and Clarke are on the rise. Brit American Isaac recently wrapped "Therese Racquin" opposite Elizabeth Olsen and Jessica Lange, as well as the Coen brothers' mysterious folk music film...

William Monahan, who most notably took home a Best Adapted Screenplay Academy Award for his work on Martin Scorsese's The Departed, has found his leads for his next directorial project. And much like London Boulevard, his last project which starred Colin Farrell and Kiera Knightley, the project is built on two very talented performers. Atlas Independent, and Henceforth Pictures have announced that Oscar Isaac and Jason Clarke have been tapped to star in Mojave. In a press release published by Deadline it's noted that Monahan also wrote the original screenplay, but as of now all plot details are being kept under wraps. The same can be said about project details as well, as the announcement doesn't say when the film is aiming to go before cameras or when the studio is planning on bringing the finished product to theaters. Both Clarke and Isaac have kept busy this year and...

After the underwhelming Season Ten of Project Runway, I'm not sure it was a good idea for Lifetime to plunge immediately into a new cycle, as its easy to experience burnout (and this is the second All Stars series this year).
But luckily, this batch of designers is road tested for drama, skill and just a drop of crazy, so maybe they can deliver some excitement ...or at least, tears and slapfights.
The designers meet up, get acquainted (or re-acquainted), new host Carolyn Murphy informs them that the winner will receive the biggest prize in Runway history, with cash and fashion crap totaling $350,000 dollars, and then they are immediately thrust into the the thick of things (this series is only an hour an episode, which adds to the frenzy and eliminates the dull spots, thankfully).
Mentor Joanna Coles has them choose teams, and each team is assigned to create a mini collection with "attitude.

The designer shared his thoughts on both the First Lady and Ann Romney -- read on to see what he had to say! On Oct. 18th the ever-so-fab designer Isaac Mizrahi launched 'Fabulous,' his first women's fragrance, at Bloomingdale's in NYC. With all the talk about the Presidential election, the designer dished on the style of both Michelle Obama and Ann Romney -- and he told us what he thought of the wive's matching pink outfits! "I thought it was fabulous, fabulous. You know I love pink right?" Isaac said when we asked him about their color-coordinated looks. As for their style, he gushed about the fashionable First Lady. "I love Michelle because she wears my clothes, regularly. The thing about Michelle, not only does she have a great personal style, she has her own way of putting things together," he said -- and we couldn't agree more! "What...

Matt Bomer is passing down his perfect style to his kids. It's definitely proven influential to his son. 'Our oldest has a fascination with ties. We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, here are some queries we’re going to lob at you, from shows including Supernatural, Pretty Little Liars, How I Met Your Mother, 90210 and The Office!
1 | Does Supernatural have to kill everybody? Ok, we don’t know that Frank’s gone for good, but that Jackson Pollock-esque blood splatter does not bode well.
2 | If Once Upon a Time‘s kiss between Charming and Snow could bring her loving memories back, then Chuck Bartowski’s smooch with Sarah must have worked too… right?...

Ladies and gentleman, this is the moment you've all been waiting for: It's the season finale of "Project Runway All Stars"!
Who will win? Who will lose? Who will wear the weirdest outfit to the big day?
We open on Mondo (which has become a habit), who ominously says, "Today is Judgement Day." That's otherwise known as the show's final fashion show. (Look out for my interview with the winner later today!)
Anyway, the boys are getting ready (though I use the term "boys" loosely, as Austin is literally rocking rollers). He says, "I'm like nervous. I'm gonna throw up." But then, cut to his talking head and he gets excited: "I'm a rock star. This is my chance to ... deliver my message about who Austin Scarlett is." A man in lipstick!

Turning on the TV to watch this week's episode, I was a little afraid of what I'd find. Home visits with the remaining designers, but no Tim Gunn? Whoever heard of such a thing?
No one apparently, because the structure has changed.
The first news we receive is that Austin shaved his mustache. Mondo says, "He used to look like Errol Flynn. Now he looks like Kermit The Frog." In case you thought that was a compliment because they all drooled over Miss Piggy earlier in the season, think again. The comment was meant to be nasty and it's only the beginning.

Sometimes you can just feel the drama coming. You know what I mean? Like snow, you can almost smell it inching nearer. And this season of "Project Runway All Stars" has been relatively sedate, so I say: Bring. It. On.
This week's episode begins with the designers seated companionably around a table at their hotel suite: "When I first got here I thought Kenley was obnoxious and annoying," confesses Mondo. "But I love to push her buttons."
Could it be? Should it be? Dare we imagine this is ... foreshadowing?
On the runway, Angela Lindvall is holding eight "getaway" bags, one for each designer. "Quite the bag lady," quips Jerell, who is fast becoming my favorite talking head.
Michael wishes her next line was, "Pack your bags! We're going to Paris." No such luck.

This week's "Project Runway All Stars" opens with one of my favorite reality show conceits: The host pretends that she planned the challenge!
"Welcome to Central Park," says Angela Lindvall. "I thought it would be nice for you to get out of the house, get some fresh air and sunshine." And by that she means, "The producers made us come out to this stupid, hot park in the middle of summer. Is anyone else sweating profusely?"
The designers must each approach total strangers, isolate a muse and also, (in what they keep calling an "'All Stars' Twist!") collect clothing off the backs of anyone who will give it up.
They have a $150 budget, which they can use to buy said clothing and/or fabric at Mood, but -- either way --...

Note: Do not read on if you have not seen Episode 4 of Lifetime's "Project Runway All Stars."
Faced with a "wagon wheel coffee table" in "When Harry Met Sally," Carrie Fisher's character Marie famously quips, "Everybody thinks they have good taste and a sense of humor, but they couldn't possibly all have good taste."
Truer words were never spoken, at least when it comes to this week's episode of "Project Runway All Stars." The challenge is supposedly "all about taste" on many levels, but everyone seem most concerned with the pun.
Angela Lindvall announces that the designers are to "create a tasteful outfit inspired by the colors and flavors of a seriously tasty dessert: gelato!" Really? It seems to me that there are more inspiring sweets, but what the heck?
On the runway, they feature a cart bearing the brand "L'Arte del Gelato" and ask the designers to pick flavors.

I know, I know. I should have started my "Project Runway All Stars" recaps last week when it first premiered, but I was too busy huddled in a corner, recovering from the trauma of Tim Gunn's absence, wondering how they will "make it work."
Let's get one thing clear from the start: This is not "Project Runway," no matter what the name implies. There's no Tim Gunn, no Heidi Klum, no Michael Kors and no Nina Garcia. The accessory wall is Neiman Marcus, not Bluefly. They're not at Parsons. Prizes include a year-long guest editorship at Marie Claire and a specialty boutique inside Neiman's. There's not even immunity for challenge winners. So, if you're expecting the usual situation, well ... please don't. This is a new-fangled version.
Okay, now take a deep breath (with me cause I'm freaking out). Is everyone alright? I'm sorta dizzy, but whatever, let's continue. Our...

Fashion commandments were broken as blithely as Kardashian wedding vows on this week’s Project Runway All-Stars: Thou shalt not take the name of courture in vain. Honor thy Badgley and thy Mischka. Thou shall not commit fuggery. Thou shall not widen the hips of thy neighbor.
And yet a few truly lovely designs emerged in the midst of the ridiculous challenge parameters: Designers had only one day to create ”show-stopping ballgowns for a night at the opera,” complete with “true couture touches,” a task that human quote machine Anthony noted was an insult to the meaning of the word couture.

Project Runway All Stars debuted last night on Lifetime. There was an abundance of familiar faces and fan favorites, but without our usual stewards Heidi, Nina, Michael or Tim – are the designers enough to keep us watching?
Now that Heidi Klum is out for this season, model Angela Lindvall is in. Sure, she’s articulate but she lacks Heidi’s adorable personality. I’m sure the transition to a new host would be much easier if we didn’t have to compare to Heidi’s awesomeness. She’s got big heels to fill and she better amp herself up. As for the judges, there is no Michael or Nina but Isaac Mizrahi and co-founder of Marchesa, Georgina Chapman.
Sadly, Tim Gun is also sitting this one out. Marie Claire’s editor and chief Joanna Coles took his place. Doesn’t she have anything better to do, like run a magazine?...

While some designers and celebrities haven’t been so hard on the former Dior designer, Isaac spoke out about his inexcusable behavior — and said he hopes he doesn’t ever work again!
Right before Paris Fashion Week, designer John Galliano was arrested for alleged assault and racist remarks — at first suspended and then fired from fashion house Dior, everyone went into a frenzy when footage of the designer, drunk and making disgraceful anti-Semitic remarks, surfaced. While some seemed shocked and even sympathetic, designer Isaac Mizrahi thinks his behavior is totally inexcusable.

Breaking Fashion News: Isaac Mizrahi sent the now-famous Pink Poodle down his Fall 2011 runway, and we think she could even melt Anna Wintour’s heart! Is she hotter than Hickory, the Scottish deerhound who just won Westminster? You decide!
And in this corner, at the Feb. 17 Isaac Mizrahi fashion show, all celebrities and socialites had their eyes on The Pink Poodle as she sauntered down the dogwalk! Isaac says some of the poodles he used are rescue dogs– how sweet is that?
In the other corner, we have the winner of the 135th annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, the Oscars of the canine world! Hickory is a Scottish deerhound, and she was just crowned top dog on Feb. 15. We can’t get over how sweet her face is, even though her owner says she’s a diva! The designer’s collection was so fun — just like the scene at the show!
While Isaac Mizrahi’s spring 2011 collection was full of black and white, his fall collection was full of color! On the last day of Fashion Week, Models came down the runway in bright dresses — in fact, a girl in a neon-pink strapless was accompanied by a matching pink poodle, all while white-coated waiters offered up chocolate cake covered in mint-green icing.
The collection included gowns in bright orange, mint green, pink, and purple, while there was also some black and grey separates. At the end of the show, Isaac himself came out, running down the catwalk with a black poodle! Check out some of the looks from the show and let us know what you think of the latest collection!

It’s Fashion Week in New York, and that serves as inspiration for the Quickfire Challenge on Top Chef, with food as the art form.
While Padma plugs her jewelry line, Isaac Mizrahi makes for a rather controversial judge, snapping his fingers at Dale, throwing in a random comparison to Charles Manson. While it all seems like a thinly-veiled promotion for Fashion Week, at least Mizrahi makes for interesting TV, wouldn’t you agree?
Quickfire Challenge
With Mizrahi as the guest judge for this episode, the judges are instructed to create a dish with winning presentation, par for the course. The twist? Padma and Isaac will not be tasting it; it’s purely for aesthetics.
The judges are creative as usual, although removing the taste component of food definitely throw them off. Tre creates an abstract piece of “dots” and slices of salmon that’s oddly pretty, but quite simple.

Nine chefs left!Whoo! Isaac Mizrahi is in the house for some reason. Because he designs clothes have good taste? Oh, no, because Padma is showing her jewelry line at Fashion Week, so we needed a tie-in. Nice plug, Padma! Subtle! And she’s wearing one of her own necklaces! Which looks like something I beaded at summer camp! Isaac’s new collection was inspired by his Xerox machine. Whaaaa? After an exhausting week of designing on the finale of Bravo's "The Fashion Show: Ultimate Collection," supermodel Iman and her less interesting judging cohorts named their winner. And Zap2it readers, you picked correctly.
Congratulations goes to Jeffrey!
Jeffrey walked away with the win after a stunning fashion show that judge Isaac Mizrahi compared to "an orgasm" for how it built to a big finale dress - a red gown with a long, flowing back. Guest judge Mary J. Blige said she would wear every design he sent down the runway.
It looked touch and go there for a while. With only two days to go, Jeffrey had very little to show for the previous few days of work. Calvin had basically finished his collection and made sure everyone knew. To top it off, the judges threw in a twist. On top of the nine looks the designers were already working on,...

New York, NY, United States (NewsBahn) - What happens when you mix fashion, housewives and homemade pie together? No, it's not another over-the-top episode of Bravo's Real Housewives series. Instead, "The Fashion Show's" Isaac Mizrahi stopped by "The Martha Stewart Show" to share his take on men, watching his weight before the holidays and the questionable behavior of a few Housewives.
Isaac, who co-hosts "The Fashion Show: Ultimate Collection" alongside supermodel Iman, knows a thing or two about what makes an outfit or accessory shine with his extensive experience in the fashion world. But when it comes to "chocolate or chicken" he says he leaves that to the homemaker master, Martha Stewart.
Although an avid baker himself, Isaac stated in the beginning of the show, "I do not need Martha Stewart to show me how to bake pie crust," but as they started making a Peppermint Candy Cake, he later changed his mind.

Zap2it had the amazing opportunity to drop in on "The Fashion Show's" mentor and judge, designer Isaac Mizrahi, at his New York City showroom. He's already working on his Fall 2011 line, so time is at a premium for the designer. But when it comes to shooting the Bravo competition, he feels it's worth it.
"That's a very long day of taping, as you can imagine," he tells us. "But what you lose, you gain in eye candy, because you're watching two really fun shows."
In probably the best reboots of a show we've seen in a while, "The Fashion Show's" revamped look in Season 2 and new host and judge, the iconic supermodel Iman, has made all the difference.
"I think [Iman] makes the show like a lot of fun," Mizrahi says. "She's just such a kook. She's so crazy. And she really is. It's not like she's just doing that.

Bravo’s design series The Fashion Show returns tonight in arevamped, practically unrecognizable form. Host and judge Kelly Rowland hasbeen replaced by supermodel Iman. There will be 12 designers competing insteadof 15. And, most importantly the competitors will be split into two fashionhouses and will stage a complete runway extravaganza each week.
The one anchoring factor is the return of Isaac Mizrahi.
In a recent conference call interview, Isaac and Iman talkedabout the new format, the latest cast of characters, and how their larger thanlife personalities will factor into the show.

If you're like me, you watched the first season of Bravo's "The Fashion Show" and realized "Project Runway" was sew yesterday. Bravo just announced that fashion icon Iman will join the second season of The Fashion Show as Isaac Mizrahi's co-host. Isaac's previous partner Kelly Rowland will not be returning.
You may remember that The Fashion Show was the series that Bravo created to fill the void left when Project Runway moved to Lifetime. We thought for sure, how could another show, with the exact same premise, possibly live up to the reality TV classic?
But, it did. We love The Fashion Show almost as much as Runway. And while Isaac is no Tim Gunn, we think Iman will be a welcome addition in mentoring the hopeful fashion designers and judging their creations.
Plus we're hoping this means Iman's hubby, rock star and fashion icon in his own right, David Bowie might stop by to participate in a challenge.
