No one is smarter than Rin Tin Tin
pensman29 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Rusty is being taught to read, but Rusty doesn't like studying. Rip tries guilting Rusty by claiming he disappointing the men on the fort. But Rinty feels something isn't right. They find a civilian about to cross over into Indian territory. He's running rifles to the Indians. Maddick is taken as a prisoner.

Back at the post, O'Hara is ready to do anything but try to teach Rusty. Rip hears there's a traveling teacher with the Indians, maybe he will take on Rusty. Mr. Bailey then comes in to teach Rusty. Rinty doesn't like Bailey but no one catches on. Rinty is smart, as Bailey passes the guardhouse, he tells Maddick he will be out by morning. Maybe not exactly morning because come morning it's time for the first class. Bailey won't let Rinty into the classroom. Then he pumps Rusty for everything he knows about the fort.

Come night, an Indian is sent for to get Maddick out of the guardhouse and Trooper Dolan is killed. The Indian is killed but Bailey uses the distraction to slip Maddick a gun and a file so he can cut through the bars. Bailey, feigning sadness for the dead soldier, offers to take the body to his family.

Next morning there is a military salute for Dolan, but Rinty keeps growling at Baily. During the night, Maddick took the place of Dolan's body in the wagon, and Rinty smells two rats. Bailey takes off with the wagon but Rinty is in pursuit. Knowing something is wrong, Rip and the troop are also off in pursuit. The coffin falls out of the wagon and Maddick is discovered. Rinty reaches Bailey first and pulls him from the wagon. Rip and O'Hara arrive and Bailey confesses to being a gun runner.

Once again, O'Hara is the teacher.
