I hated that Rollercoaster!
mark.waltz2 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Living near the beach isn't exactly a pleasurable experience for the wheelchair bound Vera Miles whose husband (Howard Duff) is accused of murdering someone who was allegedly blackmailing him. Once again, police detective Ben Gazzara and defense attorney Chuck Connors are on the case, gathering witnesses to aide the case and make sense of the real motive in the case. Miles is the key player, a rather dark character whose only pleasure comes from sitting on her balcony high above the beach and the boardwalk, observing and making all sorts of observations in regards to what she sees.

A chase on the rollercoaster that Miles hates is the key action sequence which leads to Duff's arrest. He seems resigned to his fate of being in prison, having been discovered selling secrets of the company he worked for. Such familiar faces as Barbara Nichols, John Fiedler and Lyle Talbot also appear, with teen actor Scott McCartor also memorable, reminding me of a slightly older Dennis the Menace. Once again, dark themes aides in making this a very good episode in the one season "Arrest and Trial", basically early movies of the week with a series of regulars, and quite gritty for mid 60's TV.
