Poor PC Stringer.

PC Stringer is miffed when a young girl, believed to have pinched several valuable items from a jewellers is collared by Tony, a nasty surprise awaits.

An excellent episode, I thoroughly enjoyed this one. A clever case, and a good bit of conflict, plus a chuckle, a lot of content here.

The Hire car story CID are dealing with is mildly interesting, however the story of the stolen jewelry is perhaps the most intriguing case so far.

You feel a bit sorry for PC Stringer, he's feeling hard done by, and with good reason, he's the stereotypical miserable Northerner, but here he seems like a real outsider.

What a cast, we have a silent but glorious Susan Lynch, a young Beth Goddard, and a glorious performance from a wonderfully dotty Anne Way, who makes this one for me.

Best scene had to be where Tosh replied to Reginald's efforts to suggest a hair tonic.

Satisfying 8/10.
