A Bit Rushed
prdeller7 July 2021
Another series 3 story with several germs of good ideas that never quite bloom into a great story. Alien Princess stranded on earth certainly wasn't a new plot at this point (Wonder Woman did something very similar). A good, if slightly nervous performance from a very young Helen Hunt and a good performance from Lindsay as she plays Jaime's caring, compassionate teacher swallowing her doubts about an impossibly far-fetched sounding story to bond with a clearly very lost and frightened teenage girl very well. So much more convincing when - unlike Escape to Love - the frightened teenager is actually a frightened teenager. Biggest problem with this episode for me - apart from the zero budget dreadful special effects - is that it all feels a bit rushed and the ending feels very forced and unsatisfactory because the episode had run out of time. One of very few series 3 episodes that might have worked better as a two parter to allow more time for Jaime and Auras relationship to develop. Like most of series 3, no better than ok and a feeling of 'They could have done this better with a bit more time and work ' disappointment.

Space Princess Comes To Earth
sambase-387736 November 2021
Star Wars meets the Bionic Woman! The space opera extravaganza of George Lucas clearly was the seed that gave birth to this episode. A space princess! Doesn't everybody love a good space princess story? What's interesting about this princess though is that she's quite young. And she's played very nicely and naturally by Helen Hunt. A good little bit of acting in what would be a very hard role for any young actress to play. How do you play a princess from outer space? Nobody really knows because there has never actually been one in real life. At least that we know of.

Back to the action. The space princess has magical powers. Yay! And where she comes from in space there is a war going on. Star Wars! I told you.

One side note: the two twin brothers that were on Hee Haw, the ones with the really bad haircuts, are in this episode and they play aliens.

Best aspect of this episode: there is really good chemistry between Lindsay and Helen. They are so good together. And Lindsay sings and plays the piano which is really neat. So even though it might be kind of a weak story I gave it a 8.

Space princess helen hunt!
robrosenberger15 December 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Wheee! For those of us thought the pariott era would fade away with a whimper, strap yourselves in for a ride...with a space princess! Hmm...let me guess. 1978? Yup. I think even the waltons had a couple alien visitations that year. Here, the aforementioned princess stows away on a plummeting satellite, fleeing from pursuers. Jaime gives her sanctuary, and pretty soon the aforementioned alien pursuers arrive (wearing turtlenecks and blazers, and why not?). What amps up the delight on this silly charmer is fifteen year-old helen hunt (SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON, TRANCERS 1-3). Her performance is rather flat...but that may have been an acting choice, as it works fine. Curiously, jaime is reluctant to believe her guest is an alien. Curious, because this is the third time (and third time in four episodes...aah, you crazy post-STAR WARS networks) that jaime's faced aliens.
