When Hell Froze

Warning: Spoilers
I saw this when it was broadcast in 1965. I was interested in it since Martin Milner was in it and I was/am a fan of Route 66. As best as I can remember, he played a drifter who would work awhile and move on. This looks like it was set in the 1930' in a out of the way rural setting. The husband had to be gone for a couple of days so the wife was alone. Martin Milner shows up and asks for a meal and he does some work to pay for it. She asked him to stay overnight and I think he slept in the barn. The couple were part of a fundamentalist church. The next day he left. Someone gossiped about her having a man overnight and inferred that adultery happened. The husband returned home and believes the gossip. She insists that she did not commit adultery but no one believed her. She is subjected to a church trial or be expelled from the church and shunned. She went through the hearing and pressure was put on her to admit is and she would the be cleansed of her sin by the congregation. She stood by her defense that she did no wrong. I do not know how it ended since I saw it 54 years ago and invite any one to fill in the gaps and correct me if necessary. My grandmother was in a fundamentalist church and she said that sort of thing happened back in earlier days.
