An old friend Ross Elliott comes to visit with his new bride Tracy Olsen and his son from his first marriage Michael Burns. Elliott admits to Lorne Greene that he's not done a good job with his kid and after a couple of incidents with him he asks Ben Cartwright to keep Burns on at the Ponderosa for a few months while he completes his business in San Francisco.
I liked this episode very much because we see first hand the kind of father Ben Cartwright was, we see the kind of upbringing that Hoss, Little Joe, and the missing Adam had. Burns is one spoiled kid and it takes a lot to straighten him out.
This episode belongs to Lorne Greene as TV's number one family patriarch shows just how and why he earned that title.
