Twenty-Four Thousand Ball Point Pens

Warning: Spoilers
A return to form for Budgie after some weaker episodes.

Budgie even shows some morals after he scams an old lady in a shop with the shortchanged trick.

It is all a way for Budgie to raise some working capital. He and Inky Ballantine (Kenneth Cranham) are buying a consignment of ball point pens and then sell them off quickly to a higher bidder.

Nobody inspects the pens and the highest bidder carries the can. It just turns out to be Charlie Endell and he is raging.

The seller is Dickie Silver (Alfies Bass) a well known shyster. He has also sold a vase to Charlie Endell not realising that a pair of the vases are rather valuable. Silver needs to retrieve the one he sold to Charlie back.

Only that Budgie has managed to get rid of the vase cheaply as he raises his working capital for the pens.

It is all one big carousel. Most people in the episode turn up trumps but Budgie is left potless once again. He even gets short changed at the end.

A young Kenneth Cranham is unrecognisable. Alfie Brass puts a scene stealing performance.
