Happydale Acres should have been the solution
bkoganbing22 October 2008
This episode of the Cade's County television series finds Bobby Darin as a mentally disturbed young man recently released from prison who has a serious problem. He's schizophrenic and he's believing he's Billy The Kid. It's why his wife Linda Cristal left him and took their young son, Leif Garrett.

Now that he's free from prison Darin's determined to follow in the path of Billy the Kid as he slips more and more into that identity. He's committed a couple of robberies and kidnapped Garrett as well. And of course he's yearning to get even with Big Casino, as Glenn Ford is now being called because Darin thinks Ford is Pat Garrett.

I did like Ford's interview with David Doyle as the prison psychiatrist. Of course we could see he was breaking down mentally, but he treats a couple of thousand prisoners and unless they get violent and become behavior problems, someone like Darin is shunted aside. In fact Darin the more he withdrew into Billy the Kid he was a model prisoner and made parole.

Now Darin should have gone to Happydale Acres and I could just see Edward Everett Horton telling the authorities to be patient until room could be had because he had a couple of Billy The Kid's in residence already there.
