Season four of "Cannon" started off badly--with several episodes with serious plot problems and plot holes. This is the third in a row such episode.
An old friend of Cannon's is shot. The victim's daughter convinces Cannon to investigate and Cannon thinks perhaps an unsolved case from 14 years ago might be the reason why. How did he come up with this and so quickly? I have no idea. Soon, a hit-man (Robert Webber) introduced himself to Cannon--telling him he's been paid to watch him but will kill him as soon as the order is given. At this point, Cannon could shoot the guy or tell the cops or at least smash his face in...but he lets the guy go. Probably a good idea, as this cool and collected hit-man turns out to be amazingly ineffective! Cannon must have read this in the script. Now as to why the man was shot? Well, he worked on a case for 14 years...and I figured it all out before the episode ended. Overall, sloppy and rather stupid.
