Ronald Lacey plays Tearful Ted. A burglar who is a master of disguise and he has stole Lord Collingford's croquet trophies while dressed as a tramp.
Catweazle comes across Tearful Ted but he mistakes him for a fellow wizard. Ted also asks Catweazle to look after a bag for him, it contains the trophies.
Of course Cedric thinks that Catweazle has been pilfering again.
When Tearful Ted comes back the next night to steal again, the police are waiting. However Ted disguises himself as a policeman. Catweazle knowing he had been duped also ends up at the mansion trying to put the trophies back.
There was a lot of knockabout comedy. It is all pretty frothy. Catweazle did not recognise Ted with his short cropped hair and the policeman's uniform. Just one thought, where did Ted get all that rope from to tie up the policeman?
