Tanya vs. Victor Newman!
robrosenberger16 June 2013
Warning: Spoilers
It was a fine line the show walked, between silly and stupid. Often, the difference lay in the luck of chemistry. As Angels investigate high-level deaths in a rising corporation, Julie goes undercover for a company that's been feeding them efficiency experts...only to be hypnotized into becoming their newest assassin! The always deliciously-evil Eric Braeden (THE RAT PATROL, TITANIC) plays her tormentor, Dr. Joyce Brothers has a cameo, and sci fi luminary BarBara Luna plays a hypnosis victim. In Tanya's most shining ANGEL moment, framed within a plot that THE NAKED GUN would be happy to borrow from eight years later, the chemistry is good to her.

You are getting very sleepy...

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is a spotlight on Julie. While the premise of the episode is kinda strange. The Angels are hired to look into "accidental" deaths at a tech company. However, their associate company is behind it and is hyponitizing their secretaries to do these nefarious deeds. Julie goes under the mastermind's spell and attacks her fellow angels. In the end, she gets her sweet revenge.

Only a few notes: #1 How is the doctor able to get Julie out of the trance if Mr. Wearden's voice is the only one that works on her? #2 Why does Kris need a mime book? Seriously, why?? #3 Kelly and Kris are in the background in this episode, running around making fools of themselves.

This episode is fascinating, so watch very carefully angels.

(Also, Darleen Carr who played Karl Malden's daughter in the Streets of San Francisco, guest stars.

One of the more enjoyable season 5 episodes

Warning: Spoilers
This is one of the better episodes of the fifth and final season of "Charlie's Angels", which means that it's still not as good as the better episodes of the previous seasons, but superior to such stuff as "Stuntwomen Angels" or (heaven forbid) "Mr. Galaxy". It has two near-classic sequences: the gripping, creepy opening (Eric - Victor in "The Young And The Restless" - Braeden is an ideal casting choice to play a hypnotist because of his hypnotic voice), and the one where Julie, under hypnosis, suddenly attacks a man and is about to kill him with her bare hands (not a bad way to go, actually) when Kris and Kelly interfere and we get to see something that I think we had never seen in the series before: the Angels physically fighting each other! I would also include the increased amount of fighting in the strengths of this episode....if only the stunt doubling wasn't so frequently obvious. **1/2 out of 4.

Eerie Angels

Warning: Spoilers
This episode starts off very eerily, and Eric Braeden is excellent as the sinister John Reardon

The strange music gives it the feel of an episode of Twilight Zone.

Who is the beautiful Stephanie Hoff who plays Francine? I looked her up, and it would appear that this is her one and only appearance in anything?

The sub-plot with Reardon's sidekick Robert Carver (David Sheiner) is well acted - Carver warning Reardon not to hire Julie.

But then the episode starts to get silly when Reardon has Julie in some sort of bath tub, with water up to her neck, and images of candles, something about fire and water being good for hypnotism, strong hypnotic symbols ... It did seem very easy to hypnotize Juile, and turn her into an assassin though.
