The late Ronny Pearlman wrote Cher's introduction to her first special. Wearing one of her knockout Bob Mackie costumes she said, something like "If you want to know how nervous I am, when I am (not nervous) I weigh 108. When I am I weigh 110. Tonight I weigh 109."
So ... she shared her feelings with her new audience, and those lines were written by Ronny Pearlman, one of the Emmy nominated writing team. Ronny Pearlman had been a writer on the "Beverly Hillbillies" "Get Smart" (with Mel Brooks) and other sitcoms. A graduate of the University of Texas, his comedy career began with an award from Ernie Kovaks. His humor was usually subtle, and I knew immediately this line was somewhat typical of his unique way of looking at feelings and the world at large.
