Warning: Spoilers
And here, it's Joan Blondell, a farm woman taking on the railroad when a train fails to stop, hitting her bull (identified as a cow), and killing it. She goes into town, confronts railroad owner Noah Beery Jr., and it becomes a battle of the wills as they try to outwit each other, but keep hitting an impasse. Surprisingly, the animosity towards each other turns to romance, and he comes courting her, leaving her embarrassed by her son who keeps spilling the beans about her intentions. This is a very funny episode of "Death Valley Days", although the death of several farm animals is not funny. However, conversations about how cows can't read or cows don't know any place else to graze where they've been, and it does have an ironic twist to it. Co-stars Belle Flower, Jan Stein, George Tobias and Doodles Weaver add amusement, making this a very enjoyable episode of the long-running western series.
