Enjoyable...except for the skin head wig.

"I'd Rather Be Bald Than Have No Head At All" is a very silly episode of "The Dick Van Dyke Show"...very silly...but funny as well.

Rob is being very compulsive, as he's worried he's going bald. After a lot of fretting, Buddy gives him a suggestion...to see his barber. The barber claims to be the foremost expert on hair growth and he gives Rob some weird salad dressing-like concoction to massage into his scalp.

Later, there is a dream...a very silly dream you need to see to believe. And, frankly, it's the best part of the show...and the incredibly silly part. Again....see it to believe it!

The first portion of the show did little for me, but the dream made it all well worth seeing. Very funny and clever.

Warning: Spoilers
This is another fine episode that showcases Dick Van Dykes comedic genius. It is a tribute to this mans talents that he can make this such a wonderful episode when it really doesn't have much of an original plot. Rob Petrie is counting the hairs on his brush and in the sink and worries that he is growing bald. He goes over this repeatedly much to Lauras disdain and even asks his bald producer Mel Cooley about the fate of the hairless. He finally goes to Buddy's barber who gives him a quack medicine that could double for a salad dressing that he rubs onto his head before bed. We are then treated to one of those sitcom nightmares where he dreams he's bald. This is all so unoriginal and silly but the one and only Mister Van Dyke makes it all worthwhile.
